Public Transport

October 6th, 2007 by atziluth

Honestly, I’m almost about done with it now. But they are cheap and convienient; the perfect recipes for people on a budget and immigrants. Not that I am either. I like RapidKL because it looks classy.

I noticed during my daily commutes that only certain types of locals take the bus. Most working class people don’t. What you see are mostly students, housewives, old people, and lots of foreigners, mostly cheap labours.

I mean, one day I thought to myself at how disgusting some people are, how they would just spit about anywhere in public. Not to mention littering. But as I got a good look at those people, I noticed immediately they were not locals.

Not that I am against foreign workers, but unless you had spent your whole life living in a hole, you would notice how bad these people smell. If I could teach them only one word, it would be DEODORANT.

And what’s worse, they like to travel in one bad smelling group and act like they own the place. Somehow they are in this illusion that they are young, urban and hip. HAH!

They like to hog the seats in the bus too. who cares if there was a sickly old woman who needed the seat better than they do. They don’t care. They were there first so the seats were theirs by right! Let the old woman stand. She hasn’t got long to live anyway.

Smelly bastards.

They are just wasting oxygen.

And contaminating it too. They should be penalized for the double offense.

God save us from smelly foreign workers.

Pfft.

Yesterday Was…

October 4th, 2007 by atziluth

Yesterday was a mix of good things and bad things. Good thing: I arrived to class early. Bad thing: Black Asians annoy me.

And that was just the afternoon. But we had a group discussion after class, in which, for once, I am not obliged to take the lead. She had refused the leader position in all our previous groups. But since I had to go home for raya and such, she’d be among the two left to coordinate everything. Especially important when the presentation is the Monday one day after I flew back.

Anyway, yesterday.

Because of our after-class discussion, I arrived at the bus station well after 5:15 which is not good because of the after-work crowd. But I steeled myself and threw all thoughts of getting a seat on the bus out the window. However, I had to wait for two busses to pass through before I find one that’s humanely possible to get on. The previous two made the statement ‘packed like sardines’ actually sound pleasant.

Anyway, because of that, I arrived at KL Central about a quarter to seven and I still have to take the monorail which would take 15 minutes to reach BB. Therefore, along the way, I bought a bottle of Ribena to drink in case I had to break fast on the road. True enough, I heard the azan when I passed by Starbucks at BB. So I took a few sip of my drink.

Then as I was walking home, I had to tetter between the cars idiotly parked on the curb and the traffic, swinging a small plastic bag of Ribena bottle inside. During one of these avoiding cars on both sides, the plastic snapped and my barely half-drunk bottle rolled on the road!

I contemplated for a second to get it, but then thought against it.

Heard of the boy-ball-car accident combo? About the classic tale of a boy who chased his ball to the road and then got hit by a car? Though this cliche story has several versions. One of the famous ones is where, just as he was about to get hit, a delinquent teenager saved him and got hit instead. When the teenager was revived he became a psychic detective for the Underworld.

Aaaaanyway. Let’s just not let it become a Me-ribena bottle-car accident combo. After all, I could have gotten hit for something nobler than a ribena bottle that could have easily be gotten cheaper and easily from the 7-11 around the corner, couldn’t I? (Like saving a kid and then become a psychic detective of the underworld xD)

After I had dinner, motherhood wanted to go out shopping. So reluctantly I went but I could go shopping too so that was cool. I bought some shades and a few other things. But as things were looking up, I just had to fall down.

As I was exiting BB Plaza, I tripped on the stairs and now have to put up with a sore arm and blue knee.

I was skeptical after that. If the day turned out any worse, I was inclined to think I was going to lose Sasarai too!

Nothing like that happened though hehehe. I need to install his software onto Kuja soon and name him properly.

Something to end this post is a picture I took two days ago.

I think the dress is just not working for her.

Dress

Ta’ra.

p/s I have a folder named Katan’s Pictures. It’s where pictures I took with Katan go to. Should I create a new folder for Sasarai or rename this one Katan-Sasarai or just leave it at that? I wonder.

IT ARRIVETH!!!

October 1st, 2007 by atziluth

Or is it arrived. I sent a box of mooncakes under the lable ‘books’ to the US and to my relieve, it arrived yesterday! (today?)

I was so relieved! My friend immediately dug into the tiramisu flavored one. He liked it. I’m so happy XD.

So in return he said I could ask for anything I want. Well, anything ‘within reason’ he rephrased. So I asked for a FF12 original game disk. Yea yea there it goes again, the scorns. They just cost 5 ringgit here you say and bla bla bla. But I have so far bought 2 disks and they are both retarded. One would work well after a while and then got stuck. This happened to three CDs and some people even suggested it might even be Kujong that’s the problem. Perhaps he needed to be re-modded because his chip is outdated. Well maybe. But I’m still not taking chances.

Besides. The guy offered. I have nothing to lose.

He asked which one I want, the normal or the collector’s edition. I asked what’s different about the collector’s edition. He said it comes in a box, so we’d both get nifty boxes hahaha. The mooncakes come in a complimentary box for every four mooncakes, after all. And the box I bought was a red traditional cardbox one, with a few coins as decoration. Even if I had taken a picture of it, it would have disappeared along with Katan anyway. Suffice to say it was among the most unique mooncake boxes I’ve seen, and I’ve seen plenty.

So this is what I’m getting :D (hopefully! though if he changed his mind and get me a normal one I wouldn’t complain. This one cost $10 more).

Ffxii_casedetail

In addition to the game disk (obviously!), it has some bonus DVDs and an art book and maybe something else, who knows. It’s a North American version, but I am not worried so long as its NTSC. Besides, it’s not like there’s a specific 3rd region-coded games anyway. We all used pirated copies of other regions.

When I get this, it would be the first original PS2 game I’d own. :>

Ta’ra and all that. XD

Named At last

October 1st, 2007 by atziluth

I got a new phone. It’s a Sony Ericsson w660i. It’s red and has bunga bunga. Its name is Sasarai.

Some of you probably don’t need an introduction to it, but here it is anyway.

Sasarai And yeah, I admittedly bought it at a premium price and if I mention the price no doubt there’ll be people scorning and saying they found it elsewhere at a cheaper price. Well buzz off! I don’t need you to help me do my shopping (idiot fanboys). I don’t just buy for the sake of buying. I seek value.

Now shut up and go back to playing Halo 3 or whatever.

Anyway, it would have been my first ‘female’ gadget. I realized that after I bought it. But still, I wouldnt trade it for the black one.

So I thought I should give it a ‘female’ name right? Nothing comes to mind immediately but I did thought of ‘Haruka’ since it’s quite unisex. But that would be too Japanese and I would look like a Japanophile. I hate Japanophiles.

Since Kuja and Kujong were inspired by a game character and Kaoru after a J-rocker, I thought I’d find inspiration elsewhere. After much itnernal bantering, I suddenly stumbed upon this guy in my Suikoden pictures folder.

Sasarai4

If you ask me, there are much similarities between him and my phone who is named after him. You would be familiar with him if you ever play Suikoden 2, 3 and the Suikogaiden series.

And what’s funny is, despite his looks he insists that he looks "at least over thirty".

As Totchi said it, "I don’t like guys who looks excessively like a girl".

And my phone is therefore a ‘he’.

I’ll leave the rest of the implications up to your imagination.

Ta’ra.

p/s Stupid cangkul lecturer extended the deadline for our ass to the end of the month while just a few weeks ago it’s due today!  Well thank you so much for ruining my weekend you stupid cangkul.

But in accordance to Habit 2 I shall not let this bastard cangkul ruin my day. So I pray for worse days ahead of him. Screw the innocent.

A Letter From Katan

September 29th, 2007 by atziluth

Katan sent me a letter!! Through what methods I cannot tell you because that’s a secret between Katan and me. But does it matter so long as you get to read the letter? Here goes!

Dear Mistress, (he calls me mistress that sweet little phone XD)

How are you? I hope you are coping well without me. I apologize that we had to be separated this way. I wish I could have alerted you, but there’s only so much a phone could do.

Anyway, after our forceful separation, the bastard turned me off. He even put me on his ears several times. But I totally did not enjoy it. The bastard had the face of a thug, badly needed a bath and obviously had never heard of cotton buds. His ears are a sight better left for horror movies and nightmares.

The thug was indecisive whether to use or sell me. But in the end his greed got the better of him and decided to sell me for some quick cash. And he got a pretty nice amount too. It was mostly due to me being in good condition because you, my mistress looked after me very well. The only thing that irritated me was how the bastard and the urchin removed my black armor, the one you specifically bought for me. Till today I miss my armor.

So here I am, stranded in a glass panel along with other has-beens. But it’s not too bad. I feel kinda vulnerable without my armor, but I met a lot of new friends here. I’ve been spending my days talking to this Nokia and we trade stories a lot. I told him about how much fun we had. I even told him about Mr. Kuja the laptop and Kaoru the printer. And of course, not forgetting Senior Kujong, the PS2. The Nokia was fascinated that I came from a big loving family. He was also surprised to find that I have a name. Out of all the phones in our brood, I was the only one with a special name. Needless to say, I am very proud of it. Thank you for naming me Katan.

So have you found a new phone yet? I know it would be inconvenient for you without it. But I also know you would quite enjoy the solitary. I supposed that’s part of the reason why you often forgot to charge me. But that’s fine by me. I am but your servant.

You did say you are going to get cats after you graduate. I am saddened that I won’t be there to take pictures of your adorable cats. You said your first cat will be named Kuja. Just like Mr. Kuja. I wonder, will you name a cat after me too? I sure hope if you do, that cat will behave as good as I did.

Well, that’s all from me, Mistress. You might pass by me in a glass panel somewhere. You might not know me, but I would know you, for sure. But then again, maybe it’s not a good idea for you to come here. This area is a dodgy backstreet with lots of thugs hanging around. It’s not safe for a lady like you.

Lastly, I just want to say, I’m doing fine. It’s not the same as when we were together, but it’s not too bad. Take care.

Your faithful servant,

Katan

Isn’t he just adorable? Well I’m just glad Katan is actually exploring new horizons and making new friends. Good for him!

I’ll write to him back after I got a new phone hehehe.

Ta’ra!

So Long Old Friend~

September 28th, 2007 by atziluth

I finally bade farewell to my long-time companion, Katan. So long old buddy!

Yeah I know I lost him on the bus on the way home from college and I might even have been mugged, but is it wrong of me to prefer to think that he’s just off on a journey to explore new horizons and not in some bastard’s slimy hands (who most probably is enjoying my L’Arc en Ciel songs and pictures of colorful desserts. Or just sold him off to make quick cash. Bastard.)

But it’s not like Katan is that new anyway. He’s well over one year plus and had served me well.

As usual, my superhuman frustration recovery rate kicked in. I wonder if it’s all that exercise. But still, I tried to cry over him, then I felt stupid and decided to start shopping for a new phone instead.

BUT!!

Do not delete my number yet! I have recovered the number and the new sim card (free upgrade to 3G :D) will arrive with motherhood on Sunday. I’m not sure how many numbers I will retain since I am not sure how many I actually saved in the sim card. One look at my bill statement will help me recall the numbers I recently called or SMS, though I will most definitely need the numbers earlier than that.

See? It’s not all bad using post-paid, hehehe.

In the mean time I can still be reached through house phone. It’s not very reliable, since that phone goes dead every second or so. But it’s better than nothing, right?

If you want my house phone number, drop me a message or something.

I didn’t wanna blog about it earlier because I was too pissed off to think clearly and I would have spouted a lot of swear words around.  And that’s not good for the fasting month is it? XD

And besides, the next day, I felt rather peaceful. Just the previous day I’ve had to teach someone how to count through SMS and that pissed me off big time. When Katan is no more I was thrown into a state of peaceful obliviousness. I didn’t tell the person I was pissed off at about Katan too, simply because I was pissed. But they’ll learn. I’ll tell them later or something.

So after I got my new phone whom I have no idea what to name yet, I may need to ask some numbers. Or normally I’d call the ‘hub’ and ask her about all the relevant numbers XD. It is convenient to have someone who has everyone’s numbers hehehe.

Choosing a new phone is a headache. Since I never actually go and ‘choose’ my phones. My phone would just appear in the market. I could take one look at it and I instantly knew that phone is mine. That happens when I need a new phone usually because my current one is no longer usable and such. I usually do only minimal research because I already know you see. It won’t be the same browsing shops looking for anything that ‘will do’.

But one thing for sure, once you’ve had a SE Walkman phone, there’s no going back XD.

Besides, the first thing daddyo asked me when I called him yesterday was "So which phone are you going to buy?" XD

I may have a new phone by Sunday though. This time I’ll prolly get a chain for it like I do my wallet. And start a new trend while I’m at it.

Though, I do miss having an alarm clock to wake me up.

The Missing Treat

September 21st, 2007 by atziluth

Yesterday was like a double treat for me. First we break fast at the Grand Milennium Hotel (previously known as The Regent). The buffet here is probably the best. I’ve been to several Ramadhan buffets at different hotels, but this place is the best. Then we went for a foot massage. But more on that at 12 Habits.

As usual, I start with the dessert.

Cakes

There wasn’t any strawberries specifically for eating. But  I got some anyway.

Strawberries

So if you’re wondering where did all the decorative strawberries went, you now know what happened to them ;).

Today we ate at Bangsar Village, at this Thai restaurant somewhere inside. Not too shabby, not too shabby. But of course, they don’t have strawberries.

Heh heh.

The Art of Break Fasting

September 18th, 2007 by atziluth

Most people would just gobble up anything and everything in sight, but there is a certain art to break fasting. Especially when you’re break fasting at a buffet.

There’s a lot of things on offer, and your goal is mainly to try and eat all of them. The key is to eating a bit of each, of course.

I start with dessert.

Dessert

What most people take for granted as they are too busy piling their plates with rice and roast lamb is that, the desserts will always be there after they are finished with their main course.

Unfortunately, unlike the main courses which gets re-supplied after they are finished, the desserts are a one-time course. If they are gone, they are gone.

Eespecially that yummy cheese cake slices :D.

But this of course, comes after filling yourself with water.

After that, wait for a minute for the food to digest. Then go on with small portions of everything like this:

Small_stuff

And then, end with dessert again. But usually by this time, the yummy cakes are probably gone and you’re left with only fruits.

So it’s dessert-main course-dessert.

Enough about food. You’d be drooling if you are fasting and reading this in the middle of the day (or late at night). Let’s go on to the two most important things a college student should be able to do.

1) Talk, and write excellent English.

2) Do a correct Harvard style referencing always

3) Not having to be told about the above

Yeah, I listed three things so sue me.

Honestly, if you fail in the above departments, I’m sorry to say your future looks bleak. So neglect those issues at your own expense.

How Could I’ve been so BLIND?!

September 9th, 2007 by atziluth

All these years of planning and obsessing, the only thing that stood between me and great wealth was a thing called international wire tranfers of funds.

I already knew how to trade, and was ready to lose money over it. But how to trade if you don’t have money?  And I was done with virtual trading too.

I asked around about how to transfer fund to OptionsXPress. I asked my dad (bad move), I asked my lecturer (and even badder move), I even asked my clueless friends (a desperate move).

Why a bad move you say? Because my dad doesn’t trust online money handling, and he’s suspicious about options trading. (Yeah right, he was the one who paid 4k for me to join the course :/) Asking my lecturer was even worse!! He was suspicious of the broker! "Who’s the guy? How good is he? How do you know him? Online? What if he’s a fraud? Options is risky. Don’t do it."

Gaaah!!

I’m asking how to wire funds! NOT asking you to tell me that I’m crazy and being defrauded!! Even so - it’s my money. I’d rather put my money into trading and lose rather than into some crappy MLM program (on that note, Amway sucks).

But not anymore. Because as I registered an OX account today (My account this time. No longer my sister’s because I’m already over 18 and can cheat on my years of trading experience :D but thanks to my sis for letting me borrow her information all these years) I found out that aside from wire transfer, there is a thing called good ol cheques.

I had thought of cheques before, but my dad said in order to send cheques you have to open a current account and current accounts have fees. After that he gave me a lecture on how risky the stock market is and how suspicious he was towards this ‘online thing’. And then proceeded to tell me how IPTA students often gambled their PTPTN money on certain online money-making programs.

I rolled my eyes and numbed my ears.

HOWEVER!

If not because of my new revelations towards cheques, this post won’t even be here. The thing is, I have found out about the beauty that is Cashier’s Cheque.

Cashier’s Cheque is also known as bank check, official check, teller’s check, bank draft or treasurer’s check. In Malaysia it is known as Cashier’s Order (CO), or Banker’s Cheque.

So how exactly is this cheque beautiful? I’m glad you ask :D! In short, Cashier’s Cheque/Order, allows you to send money in cheque form to anywhere in the world. And you don’t even have to open a bank account in the bank you’re using the service for. These banks will normally have its own foreign currency exchange and will immediately convert your money into the desired currency you wish to cheque’d. I have recognized several banks:

AmBank - this bank calls it Cashier’s Order

CIMB Bank - this bank refers to it as Banker Cheque

EON Bank - Cashier’s Order

Alliance Bank - also Banker Cheque

Different names, same thing. Makes me wonder why they bother using two different names for the same thing. Banks like to mafan themselves.

I might skip Alliance Bank and go to the first three banks. I found out that there’s a standard charge of RM 2 for issuance plus 15 cent stamp duty. If not due to my own desperation, I wouldn’t even know there was a thing call a Cashier’s Order and that the everyday banks all (or most) offer it. Why am I so left behind?

So let’s review: I already printed out my form, located the nearest bank for my remittance, now all I need to do is raise enough money to start trading :D. I actually don’t have to ‘raise’ money. I already have enough money in my reserves, but I’m giving myself until the end of the year. By then I would have already reviewed all the materials from my course and be ready to make those Debit and Credit Spreads, whee!

By next year, look forward to seeing a lot of chart print screens here hehehehe.

I am aesthetic.

Oh and if you have nothing to do, please head over to 12 Habits.

Ta’ra!
