Telenovela

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

Is the reason why I have been going to bed at 5 am lately. Last Friday morning I saw the first episode of La Mojer En El Espajo. After that fateful day I’ve been following the series until now. I’m not planning to follow it till the end though. Too mafan. I just watch it coz Marcos is hot. Like SIZZLING HOT!!

Hot latinos are so irresistable. I think it’s a new-found fetish.

Telenovelas always feature the same sort of drama. You have this clique of very rich, very beautiful people. The women just wanna keep all the men to themselves, while the men are more open to new experiences and new women, regardless of their social class.

The women are beautiful, cruel, vengeful and spend 50% of their time grooming and the other 50% plotting. Most favorite subjects: men and money.

The genericness reminds me of Datin Diaries.

Either way, if not because my two Final Fantasy 12’s CDs are faulty, I won’t even end up watching TV. I just bought another one today because my previous one was stuck when I entered a shop and won’t load the screen, even though the background music was playing fine. Then, I kept alternating with both discs, since they are stuck at different sections. BUT! As I was about to exit into the world map, it won’t load at all! BOTH discs at that!!

Grrr makes me so mad!

Tomorrow I’m going back to the store and exchanging it! This time I might even bring my memory card and check the disc on the spot!

I had planned to finish this game before I return to KL, but it seems impossible now, with the rate I’m going. But I will prevail! Somehow.

Anyway, I’m starting a fund. Two funds, actually. One is my PSP Fund, the other is my PSTWO fund. When I went browsing today I found two versions of the pink pstwo. The pastel pink comes with only one original pink controller while the silver pink comes with two original controllers. I’m not a big fan of pink, but I do think it’s pretty awesome hahaha. When I’m finally getting one, I want the silver PSP and a white pstwo. Then I can have all three colors hahaha.

Maybe I’ll get a pink PS3 in the future. Hehehehe.

I’m going insane because I haven’t had my share of Bing yet since I return. Anybody up for Bing’s anytime soon? Today, maybe? :D

Ta’ra!

p/s and I want another bar of Hershey’s with Almonds. :P~

Spa

Saturday, June 23rd, 2007

Did you know that NONA has a late night rerun at 2:30 am? I didn’t. Now that I’m watching it, I feel like getting a Tun Teja spa at that spa place in KL they featured. It looks fun. It’s a full body thing, including a flower bath! The water was white and the tub was filled with orchids! Wouldn’t that make you feel like a princess? ^_^

Talking of princesses, I recently have been reading about life in the middle ages. It’s not exactly fun, but it’s just interesting to know.

Did you know why brides carry a bouquet of flowers? During the middle ages, people take their annual baths in May. So by June they still smelled pretty good. It’s summer so a lot of people prefer to marry by then therefore a "June bride" eh? anyway, brides carry flowers to cover their body odours. It’s probably of little wonder why weddings are always full of flowers. The guests must smelled pretty bad xD.

Oh, oh another interesting thing. During the middle ages, when they ran out of land to bury the dead, they would dug up the old graves and put the bones in a "Bone-house". But when they open the coffins, they found scratch marks under the lid, which meant they had been burying live people (approximately 1 out of 25 of the coffins had scratch marks). So to avoid this, they would tie a string to the dead person’s wrist, which would be tied to a bell. A person would stay and wait on the bell, in case it rings, called the "graveyard shift", waiting for a "dead ringer", and when one was found alive, they would be "saved by the bell". Geddit? xD

I dont have the link to that website right now, but I’m looking for more terms that originated from the middle ages. I found the origin of ‘thresh hold’ and ‘posies’. I’m looking for more :D.

And man I so want to go to the spa. Anyone wanna join me?

Ta’ra!

High Maintenance

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

Tonight my aunt came over and we talked about stuff. A lot of stuff. Somehow it was revealed that my cousin and I shared the same preference in marrying foreigners. I always have this thought that I will someday marry outside my race. It’s just a feeling I have :/.

When asked why, I can’t really tell. It’s just a preference. But it’s still a long ways away so I can dream, can’t I?

Once again, I am watching a late night show rerun of Gedik Santai because I’m procrastinating from playing FF12.

Don’t ask.

Anyway, their topic was ‘high maintenance’. I think I am one of those high maintenance girls, but I keep my high-maintenanceness to a minimum. I mean, it’s not that I do it on purpose, some things I use daily just come expensive and it can’t be helped because I have a very selective skin.

On the show they talked about how high maintenance girls are into branded stuff. While it’s true, they don’t buy branded stuff just for the sake of it being branded (okay sometimes they do) but if they can’t afford it, that’s that, you know. No point in burning your money on stuff you don’t need. I relate it to myself.

I sometimes thought of myself as not one who wear branded stuff all the time, but when I stopped myself walking around the mall one day and looked into the mirror, I looked at my clothes, from my shirt to pants and shoes and realized I may even be a high maintenance girl after all. For one I like to shop, but I’ve stopped buying clothes from random shops and buy only from the brands I like. They are more expensive, so you buy less and only get the one you really want. This way your stuff lasts longer, are prettier, and you are not tempted to buy about four of the same thing just because they are cheap, therefore not crowding your closet with all the same things.

Yeah, I learned my lesson the hard way.

At least when you’re married to someone whose home country’s currency is higher than yours the burden of high maintenanceness is less. So you see why I want to marry an ang moh? Though someone from the Middle East is not too bad too. I mean, Oman’s currency is x10 while Kuwait’s is x12. Hehehehe.

Another thing, after my sis graduated high school, she received a lot of wedding invitations from her high school friends. A lot of my cousin’s friends got married too, soon after high school and she was only one year older than me. I wonder when I’m gonna start receiving wedding invitations too?

I was pretty disappointed when my cousin canceled her wedding this year end. I so want to go to a wedding of someone I actually know. Yeah, yeah I was just looking forward to the wedding cake. Even if I don’t like you, I’d still go if you have a decent wedding cake. :D

Man I’m so bad.

So make sure when you invite me to your wedding you have a wedding cake for me to look forward to, aye?

Ta’ra!

Completed!

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

I have finally completed my second playthrough of Suikoden V! The final battle took about 10 minutes after I discovered the boss’s weakness. Man, because final bosses are usually beings of great magic, they are so weak against physical attacks. I find this true for most final bosses in the games I played. So I forego magic users for versatile and heavy swordsman and upped their magic defense and you got yourself the ultimate boss fighting machine.

Or something like that. I was fortunate enough to get the good ending too. It’s a touchy game, because the final ending is determined in the first 10 hours of the game. If I didn’t get that ending I’d probably replay it again, which means clocking in another 50 hours or so! I don’t have that much time!!

But I am nothing but a genius so I completed that game wholly. All 108 stars of destiny, and enough ‘Lym points’ to score the best ending. So now I can put that game behind. And move on. I wanna play FFXII next! I read somewhere that Final Fantasy Tactics for the PSP has a cameo of a FFXII character. The original game for the PS1 has the cameo of Cloud. I guess Cloud is old school now hahaha. Just that game alone makes me wanna get a PSP. But then again, I would also like a pstwo. I saw a white and silver one. I don’t know how I know this, but I was anticipating pstwo in that color. They always do, don’t they? After the initial sales of the black ones had been maxed out, come out with different color models to upped the excitement. If I’m getting a pstwo I’m getting a silver one. Though, I’d still be torn between that and the white one. Decisions, decisions. :/

Although, rationally speaking, a PSP is more worth my money. I just wanted a pstwo to put in KL anyway. And the prices are so low right now. I asked in Hopoh and they say its about 650 or so, and the black one was 599. Both packages included free controller, 10 games, and a memory card. It’s Malaysian games piracy at its best!

Still, who’s complaining?

Hehehe, ta’ra!

TV Review

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

Look at me, everyone. I’m so bored I’m reviewing TV shows! Well I’m not exactly bored. I have so much to do actually.

So anyway, I seem to have a thing for the Discover and Discovery History channels on Astro. I’m always fond of history as it is, although it surprises me why I got such below average marks for history during high school but ended up with top grade for SPM. It’s a mystery to me.

Back in the day I watched Datin Diaries almost weekly. But it’s been several weeks since I last watched it and I caught a glimpse of it again tonight. The thing I notice about that show is that, despite its vast cast, most of the characters are generic and you can guess who plays what roles. From watching the series so far I have concluded the following:

1. Old men are all Datuks.

2. Old madames are all Datins.

3. Young females are all mistresses of the Datuks.

4. Young males are all the Datins’ toy boys. Except for that doctor.

5. There are no happy couples in that story because all the Datuks are too busy having affairs with young women while the Datins are too busy either a) tending to their very succesful business, or b) being pretty and attending/throwing parties, or c) exchanging toy boys.

And some of the mistresses are even daughters of other Datuks. So those Datuks are actually marrying their friends’ daughters and their friends, their own daughters, so they beocme one, big, messed up family.

It’s so fucked up it’s actually interesting.

And now I’m watching a late night Chinese movie on NTV7. There’s a girl who looks like Cecilia Cheung and she’s hot. And the theme song is a famous song of Theresa Ting’s that we used to sing in  Mandarin class hahaha. Man I miss that song! I forgot the title, but it had moon, and love and something else or something in it. Nostalgia. :D

And the guy is singing it to the girl at the end hahaha so funny!

Ta’ra.

p/s OMG it WAS Cecilia Cheung! Hahahaha!

Abstain

Monday, June 18th, 2007

I’ve been abstaining from the Internet ever since I got back from KL. :D But I couldn’t stay away too long or my inbox will pile up and I’ll be missing a lot of manga and anime updates from my favorite sites hehehehe. Connection is not hot but it’s better than nothing, as always.

I’ve been pretty busy. When I first returned home, I had to rush to school the same night to tumpang sekaki a PBSM camp at school hehehe. Then, after two nights at home, I flew to Miri and did some visiting. Feels a bit like raya, except without all the drama. I was disappointed. :/

I feel like going back there again just to intiate some drama. Man I’m so bored.

I finally got some peace after I got back. I got to watch movies. I managed to catch Pirates 3 and Shrek 3, next I’m going to watch Ocean’s Thirteen and Fantastic Four. I always slack off in my movie watching, so I’m trying to cover these four at least before my holiday is over. It’s the lucky year of the 3’s it seems, and numbers. I’m also looking forward to Transformers more than Harry Potter coz I prefer to watch HP on DVD, with all them extras :D. I used to Watch Transformers a lot when I was a kid. Bumblebee doesn’t look as cute in the movie :/. He looks more like a bee, less on the bumble.

But Optimus Prime looks cool :D. He’s the Head Honcho of the good bots.

VGCats used to have a comic about Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, where Bumblebee keeps nagging Prime to lay off the video games and get ready to save the world, but Prime kept saying ‘just five minutes!’

That was funny hehehe.

Anyway, my legs are once again, sore. It happens when you haven’t exercised in a while. Getting back into the routine is…hard. Terribly hard.

On the gaming front, to celebrate my coming home, I bought Final Fantasy 12. This would be the next FF after FF9 that I will play to the end, hopefully. I skipped FFX and FFX-2 at first because I didn’t have the motivation, then I saw the cheesiness of FFX-2 and totally lose interest. What’s so interesting about FF 12 is that the setting is ‘Ivalice’, the same setting for Final Fantasy Tactics, which is up there in my top 3 favorite games. The only difference is that FF 12 was set in an era that was hundreds, perhaps thousands of years prior to FFT. If you guys have played FFT you would notice the mention of how ‘a long time ago, there existed a technology so advanced that airships roamed the skies.’ But that technology has perished and nobody knew about them anymore. And as you played till the end, the final battle ground was ‘Graveyard of Airships’ which was underground, which is so cool :].

I can’t wait to finish my second playthrough of Suikoden V and start on FF12. I just wonder why lately most FF characters have light-colored hair. I kinda miss having a black-haired protagonist.

Anyway, ta’ra!

Ecstasy

Friday, June 1st, 2007

I just bought Maroon 5’s new album wheee!!! For some reason it was tagged ‘Special Malaysia Edition’. Not quite sure what that means except that it was cheaper than the ordinary CDs. They usually go for 45.90 but this one was 29.90. Either way, if I found the usualy priced ones, the non-Malaysia edition, I could consider buying it hehehehehe.

As usual, I went through the ritual of washing my hands before touching the CD (a trend started by Totchi). Twice, at that. Then pat my hand dry and delicately popped it into Kuja. The first track immediately sent me into a frenzy. I’m so happy xD.

But my favorite is still Makes Me Wonder. The songs in this album all sound so…retro and pop. SO Maroon 5. And Adam Levine is hot and has a sexy voice!

Up until now I have been abstaining from downloading any Maroon 5 songs because I was waiting for the album. I want to have only legal copies of their songs. It is my show of appreciation and support. Yes, I’m a true fan xD.

I’m still in the middle of my finals. I have one more paper on Tuesday and I’ll fly home Wednesday morning. All my three papers have been nothing but intense writing I wish my fingers could have written faster :/. I spend almost two hours just on the 4-5 questions on the case study. Leaving little more than one hour to finish the three essay questions in section B. After the paper was done my fingers were numb and twitching.

But my final paper is accounting. So less writing and more calculating and left-brain stuff.

And really, who’s big idea was it to put a noisy old auntie in charge of the exam hall anyway? she scolds people for being late and noisy and such, but the noisiest of all is she herself. That (that word that starts with a B and rhymes with ‘witch’)!

Sighs. I do hope I could pop in in KL before I go back to get some stuff. :/ And maybe watch Pirates 3 before that too.

Ta’ra!
