First Day of Battle

Monday, April 16th, 2007

My study plan starts today, right? I went to the library and study, like I planned, and met up with the Sabahan girl who speaks Sarawakian (SGWSS). We were both late hehehe. But I was the only one who did any real studying because SGWSS was a nocturnal reviser, which means she can only study at night. I’ve tried studying at night too, but I ended up staying way too late that it altered my sleeping pattern. And even so, I find it hard to concentrate and I still need at least an hour of downtime after studying to go to sleep. Therefore, I have concluded that night time is not my wu-wei (the time when the universe works for me :D). I think I prefer to study during times when activity is ripe, and when the sun is up. Which means, I can’t study very well past 11 pm. I wonder how I do it (or how other people do it).

Either way, all the study times in my timetable are 11 am onwards. But I am not sure if I’m loving the library. I mean, it’s not that I mind the noise too much, just that, I feel like a stranger there for some reason. Still…if I don’t drag my ass there I’ll probably won’t leave the house at all. Which is essential, since I have to go to the mall to get supplies and stuff :/.

Sighs.

I had planned to leave the library at 3:30 pm, but after lunch it rained. No, it wasn’t rain, it was a storm.

Storm

Then I couldn’t go home because I didn’t bring my umbrella and was too lazy to take along my new umbrella because it was big and mafan. I waited for the rain to stop, which was an hour later and stopped for cheesecake on the way back. There was only two slices of marble cheesecake left, so I thought I might as well just get them both. :D So I did.

Marble1 Marble2

I’ve eaten this one. I still have one more in the fridge though. Man, cheesecakes make me hungry. I so want to eat dinner now.

Ta’ra!

p/s I’m so sleepy. I might take a nap later.

Happy 301th post to me!!!

And I noticed I have used up 54.44% of my Friendster blog space. So 300 more posts to go till I totally use them up eh? Hehehe.

Anyway, it’s Sunday night and I just got back from BB. I had planned to go back on Saturday but ended up slashing that plan altogether. Either way, I just have to go back before Monday, when my study plans will kick off!

My weekend was pretty interesting. First, I was fickleminded and wasn’t sure if I should go on Friday or Saturday. Then, on Friday morning, my cousin called. I was on the brink of waking up at that time so it took me a while to recognize her voice. She asked me what’s up and everything and whether I’m going to KL anytime soon. All of the sudden, the switch in my mind flicked on and I told her yeah, I’m going to KL today afternoon and will probably arrive about 4-4:30 pm. Then she said if I would like to check out the PC Fair with her at KLCC since she’s currently doing an internship at Petronas.

Honestly, I knew the PC Fair was going on this weekend, but I have no intention of going there since I am not planning to get anything. But I do want to go to KLCC the shopping complex just for the heck of it.

Either way, I agreed to go to PC Fair with her. After all, it’s not often I get to hang out with this particular cousin. And it’s always fun watching her shop hehehe.

So I went. I arrived earlier than I told my cousin but later than I estimated. The bus got crowded. I hate crowded busses. The thing is, even though you may get a seat at first, but when some kids or elderly people come along, you’re just embarassing yourself by sitting down. Besides, my pride doesn’t allow me to keep my seat when some old people come along. And it happened often. Normally, it just takes one person to give up his/her seat to put the rest of the passengers to shame. Wahahaha.

One thing I noticed is that, when you selflessly give up your seat to kids or the elderly, the whole bus becomes your friend. And when the next available seat presents itself, almost everyone would point you out to it. Therefore, I almost always get a seat after I gave up mine ^^. You should try it too :P.

I really want a seat at the back of the bus instead of the aisle ones. I call them ‘un-give up-ables’ since people don’t normally go as far back for a seat.

ANYWAY, back to the PC Fair. I had known from friends that KLCC’s PC Fairs are huge, but I never thought it’d be this huge and orderly. Once you enter, you have no choice but to follow the cycle till the end. They have different rooms for different things. They go something like, entrance –>laptop –>audio & speakers –> cameras –> accessories –> exit. But you can’t go back once you exit a section too, which sucks. So always go there with the intention of buying. Now that I know, I’m kinda glad I wasn’t planning on buying anything.

My cousin was looking for a pink 4 gig thumbdrive. Since we didn’t find one, she didn’t buy anything. Then we went for a drink at Coffee Bean where she was treating and then watched a movie, Meet The Robinsons. It was so totally unplanned it was great! xD.

I went back pretty late, at about 10-something that day. I took a taxi home and my taxi driver was an incompetent who doesn’t know where Radius Hotel was and I loved it! Sometimes incompetent taxi drivers are better than those smart-alecs who just know everything better than you do. My fair was 3.70 but I gave him 5 and let him keep the change, since it was night and he was so easy to deal with.

The next day, Saturday, I went on my obligatory shopping. I went through Metrojaya a few times until  I get a headache and nearly fell asleep on my feet looking for something to get. There really was nothing that interested me at all. But not using those vouchers would be a waste. So I bought two shirts, and they cost 72 ringgit together. With the vouchers I paid only 22 for two shirts. Man. Then, in the same building was MPH where I have a 16 ringgit rebate to claim. I bought this book which I knew beforehand costs 16.90. I used my rebates and paid only 90 cents!

Waahhh shopping was so cheap it feels like stealing!

Today I didn’t do much though. Just cleaned the house and stuff.

Oh yeah, my marble cheesecake was sooo nice I forgot to take a picture of it whole, so all I could take was this. Hahaahaha.

Cheesecake It was the richest cheesecake I’ve had since Bing! Even though it’s not as rich as Bing, it still had that dizzying effect cheesecakes often give me, so it is still good. ^^. I’ll be getting more tomorrow :D.

Well, I know it’s half an hour to midnight, but I still haven’t eaten dinner and my food is calling for me. So ta’ra!

Getting Into Fresh Perspectives

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

Today I got the exam slip for my last sem’s finals even though our current sem’s finals is fast approaching. Crap uni.

Anyway, my CGPA shocked me. I mean, what the hell is up with credit hours anyway!? And why must your freaking CGPA be effected by it?! It’s insane! INSANE!!!

Then I remembered the last two lines of the poem I found yesterday: "There is nothing against you to fall down flat, But to lie there - that’s a disgrace." I may sound corny, but it really helped me come to grips with things.

Following our last class for Company Law, I decided there and then, I’m gonna aim for 4-flat this sem, or I shall die trying!

I know the only way to do this is to get myself extremely familiar with my course materials and whatever we have learned. I should not aim to be good. I should aim to be excellent! So that’s what I did. I immediatly grabbed my classmate, a Sabahan girl who speaks Sarawakian (she studied in MRSM Kuching, so we’re basically neighbours). This Sabahan Girl Who Speaks Sarawakian shall therefore be referred to as SGWSS.

Even by my standards, that is a weird acronym…

Anyway, so I grabbed SGWSS and told her, let’s study together! And she agreed. Since we were both unhappy with our pointers. Finals is more or less one month away (yes, our study break is that long and I don’t even dare think about going home) and we have four subjects to cover. After all, during SPM I had fourteen subjects. So this should be relatively easier.

Then we decided on what subjects to study together and when. Company Law and Management Info Sys were selected since we’re both clueless on the latter and equally confused by the former.

Therefore, four times a week we shall meet at the library to discuss and do general study. I was so pumped up I even made my study timetable in a bright orange paper +_+.

Time_table

I even placed my Aoi and Hyde stickie on it for motivation xD. The timetable sits right below my sole magazine-print L’Arc en Ciel poster.

Timetable2

And the signature "…or die trying" at the edge, although you cant see it.

Anyway yeah, I am that determined. Be my witness as I reclaim my pride!!

Obviously my pride is more important than my scholarship. I actually forgot that I had scholarship to start with because I was too busy picking up the pieces of my pride that had shattered on the floor.

Anyway, I did say last night that I will buy cheesecake today, right? Well, I traversed rain and thunderstorm for the sake of cheesecake, up to the point where my puny umbrella was totally blown to the other direction, causing its skeleton to break and have an odd shape. I ended up having to buy a new umbrella. One with more dignity.

I bought three cakes today :D. Two cheesecakes and one chocolate roll or something, from two bakeries.

This one I already ate. So it has rested in pieces xD.

Cake_1

And the chocolate roll behind it. It has strawberry cream, concealed by the foil. I took one bite then left the rest for my homie to finish since I was too preoccupied with the cheesecake.

Choco_roll Maybe I’ll buy it again next time. It was very chocolatey, but when you’re in the mood for cheese, it doesn’t matter how good the chocolate is xD.

I have another one, Marble cheesecake in the fridge. I’ll eat that tomorrow. Speaking of tomorrow, I think I may have to go back to USTBOSH tomorrow too (here I come, Japanese food!). Since I have stuff to do there. And I have 5 RM10 Metrojaya vouchers that expire this Sunday. Won’t wanna waste them now xD. If I go to BB tomorrow then maybe I could come back on Saturday. I just hate taking the bus on the weekend for long trips. So many brutes. Especially on Sunday late afternoons. I think I might even consider taking the taxi home. It will be a 20 ringgit well spent if you ask me.

Also, Music Station on Friday night!! Wahh!!! I miss that show :D.

That’s it for now. Ta’ra!

Quote

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

Waah! 3 major posts in one night! I must be more extroverted than I thought!

Anyway, I opened a new foolscape today, although I didn’t get to use it yet. Then, I saw this quote on the front page. Like a little poem. I never noticed it before, except for the first line of ‘don’t give up’ which I thought was okay. Then, I read the whole poem and realized it had more to say than that. Observe:

Never Give Up

You are beaten to earth?

Well, well, what’s that?

Come up with a smiling face.

It’s nothing against you to fall down flat.

But to lie there - that’s a disgrace.

- Edmund Vance Cooke (1866-1967) (I just noticed this guy had lived for approximately 100 years)

The first three lines were odd. But the last two really hit the message home. It tells you that there’s nothing wrong with ‘falling from grace’, as long as you don’t intend on remaining that way forever. It’s so true though. We often find ourselves in a ravine, sometimes without asking for it. We thought that that’s the worst that could happen. But worse still is letting yourself get stuck in the rut and not figure a way out. Don’t you agree?

And yeah, now I really have nothing more to say. Kuja has been threatening me to restart due to updates completion. Maybe I’ll let him have his peace tonight.

Ta’ra.

Drooling Profusely

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

Just before I took a nap just now I went and searched for some cheesecake recipes. The easy to do ones that just requires baking. I mention this because most cheesecakes are made by ‘baking’ them in a pan of hot water. That’s too mafan for me.

It all started when I read an article in the R.AGE section of The Star about an aunt and her niece taking time off from their afternoon naps to do some baking during their study break. Apparently this aunty was on study break too. Must be one of those young aunties with same-age nieces.

Anyway, they showed a picture of a cheese sponge cake that looked so simple and most definitely delicious. I was awe-struck by its simplicity that I decided when my holiday comes I’m gonna do some baking too! After all, it’s always nice to be productive during your holidays right? I may not be taking afternoon naps (since I wake up in the afternoon :D) but I do spend a considerable amount of time harrassing Kujong (that’s my PS2 by the way).

I found a treasure trove of recipes but limited my choice depending on simplicity, availability of ingredients (in Malaysia, since some of the recipes are American) and of course, preparation time. If it requires overnight refrigeration or 3 hours of cooling time, I forego it.

But you know, looking at names like ‘Heavenly Chocolate Cheesecake’, ‘Creamy Cheesecake’, and ‘Brownie Swirl Cheesecake’ made me drool so much I could hardly finish reading the list. It was then that I decided that tomorrow I shall go to EVERY bakery accessible to me (there’s about four) and buy EVERY type of cheesecake on sale.

I know. I am insane.

But when I had too much I’m willing to share :D. But of course, none of the shops I went to have cheesecakes as good as Bing’s. Bing’s is just heavenly. Not even Coffee Bean’s stuff could make me drool D:.

Here’s a tribute to the best afternoon ‘tea’ combination ever!

Heavenly_combination Mars Bar Cheesecake and Strawberry-banana smoothie :D.

If the picture was a bit clearer, more of you guys would be drooling out there. Hehehehe.

With my birthday approaching I have yet decide what cake I want as my birthday cake. I couldn’t possibly get someone to import Mars Bar cheesecake for me from Kuching could I? *eyes Kak Long hopefully @_@*

If this keeps up I may look into hotel-selection cheesecakes. Sighs…hotel cakes are only available at…hotels. And…well…sighs. Waaahhh I want MARS BAR CHEESECAKE RIGHT NOW!! *cries*

And there doesn’t seem to be a selection at Secret Recipe that could match my tastes. Their normal slice costs about half of what you get at Bing’s so I suppose they can’t be as rich. I mean, Secret Recipe’s cakes, although high-end, is still made for the mass-market. Bing’s is only for those who want it, regardless of demographics. ‘If you like it and don’t mind the high price, get it, it’s worth your money’ is what Bing’s cakes scream. Yeah, they are that good that I don’t mind if I’m overpaying for them :|. And I live in the glitzy area of BB so I know Bing’s cakes are that good.

Anyway, I nap around 10 pm and usually wake up at midnight. But it’s funny how I get so overpoweringly sleepy just four hours later. I can barely hold my eyes up at 4:30 am. Isn’t a nap supposed to make you able to sleep way later?

Dawn Is Upon Us

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

Upon me, at least. The body counts of ants in my room had increased dramatically. While the live ones are few and scattered, an obscure corner of my room had become their burial site where I can see a small pile of dead ants. Irritating, but dead ants are better than live ones.

The blardy bastards outside are taking the bait. When I checked today, the bait station was half-full and the number of ants on the ‘highway’ has decreased significantly. But I guess they figured out the bait was ‘bad food’ and had stopped taking them. So I spread out the bait to other locations, particularly near the ‘ant’rance of the supposed nest. I just poured some pallets at the entrance and after a while, the ants cleaned them out hehehehehe.

I want them to die, die, DIE!!

Anyway, I guess final exams is just looming in the horizon and I should start studying. I applied the same method I did for SPM for self-evaluation before studying. Through this, I list out the subjects and label them as ‘clue’ or ‘clueless’.

The results: 3 out of 4 subjects fell into ‘clueless’. Sighs…

The reality depressed me. Therefore, I turned to the book I bought earlier last sem, Study Secrets, for some help and motivation. It helped a little. After all, it’s not like I don’t know what to do, all I wanted was some framework or guideline to follow. It’s easy to get everything muddled up in your mind at this point :/.

Today we had the last class for accounts. I found it shameful that some kids just left class after they finished last week’s assignment. Yeah, last week’s assignment that was supposed to be handed in today. It can only be done in the lab, however and today was our third, and final lab session. But still, you know. I finished mine the same day I got it and was among the few who followed the submission dateline, which, left me with nothing to do after that.

Thinking I am wasting valuable time, I decided to be proactive and asked the lecturer about the final exams. And was I glad I insisted on him re-explaining some things for me. The remaining kids who were already packing their bags decided to stay a while to listen to his explanation. I could almost rolled my eyes at them. You people could had just left like those two lamers. *rolls eyes*

Yeah, and I rolled my eyes. But here though, not in class. Just, you know, hypocrites. Yeah, I am one too so bite me.

I shall go ask more questions tomorrow.

Man, I need some new vocabulary. I found that my current vocabs seems to be quite…limited. D:

Genocide

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

One word:

MASSACRE!!!

:D

Today when I told some people in class about my holy war, they all say I was being cruel to animals. But pests aren’t animals are they? They are pests!! And who cares if a whole colony of ants in your house dies! It’s not like they are very useful to you anyway.

After class today I went to the supermarket to search for some poisons for them blardy bastards. I was expecting some spray and was willing to settle for common mosquitos spray if I couldn’t find anything. But I did! I found BAIT!! Wah so happy!!

There was only one type of bait sold so there is no choice but to get it.Box

It comes with two bait stations and a sachet of pellets in each.

Case

I shiver with excitement as I set up one of the bait stations and watched in glee as the blundering bastards infested it and carried the pellets back to their nest.

Hehehehehehehehehehehehhehehehehehe.

I didn’t think about scattering the pieces elsewhere and instead, just dumped the whole sachet into the case. Oh well. We’ll see how it works. Hehehehe.

MAY THE INFIDELS ALL ROAST IN HELL!

Or something like that.

I hope you all die a painful, slow death, you blardy bastards!

Ta’ra.

Persistence

Saturday, April 7th, 2007

For a few days now the treacherous ants have made a trail crossing my room (blardy bastards!!!), and acting as if they own the place. The only thing I’ve been doing to control them was sweep them away, which, I know, is not very permanently effective. After all, ants follow scent trails and all they need is just one scout ant to leave a trail for them to follow.

Like I said, blardy bastards.

So today, I have decided to wage an all-out war against them. If I am succesful, I might even start waging war on their entire colony so the whole blardy bastards and their fatt-assed queens can leave this house the hell alone.

To start off my holy war, I went around the Net and armed myself with information. Looking for info on how to eliminate a specific breed of ant is impossible since I dont even know what species these ants are! Heck - this is the first time I’ve seen them!! One thing for sure though, I believe these ants originated outdoors. Their strong built undermines their indoor purposes.

Anyway, (why am I complimenting the ants?!) I found some ways to eliminate ants in an emergency.

The obvious steps are:

1. Remove the food source

2. Vacuum, wipe the trail with soapy water or window cleaner.

3. Locate the entry points and caulk them or stuff with petroleum jelly.

4. Use baits to poison the entire colony

5. While waiting for bait to work, continue to clean trail

Or something like that. Using bait is the most effective and eco-friendly way of exterminating ants. With bait, the worker ants will take the food and feed them to the whole colony, killing the larvaes and queens slowly mwahahahahahahah! Spraying is only effective to a certain degree.

I just bought a window cleaner not too long ago but never used it. I’m going to use it since it’s recommended and stuff. The strong scent will wipe out the ants’ scent trail better. honestly, I never expected I’d use the window cleaner to wipe out ants though. Naturally I thought I’d use it for well, cleaning windows of course.

When I’m done I shall inform you people of the outcome of my holy war.

Oh yes, yesterday I went to watch Finding Nemo on Ice. Isn’t it funny how they put an On Ice show for a story about fishes? So like, first you take them out of the ocean, put them on ice, and then the fryer??

Clown fish must taste pretty hilarious.

Geddit??

Here’s some pictures.

First you get the usual Mickey-Minnie-Donald-Goofy quartet to start off the show. After all, it ain’t Disney without Mickey.

Mickeyminniedonald

And you have Nemo and Marlin

Nemodaddy

and some a shot of Marlin and Dory with Bruce the shark.

Bruce1 Bruce_1 And that’s all. I couldn’t be bothered to take more pictures. I was there to enjoy the show after all. It’s not as "WOW" as the Beauty and the Beast On Ice I watched in Singapore, but it’s still decent entertainment. The show will continue to run until the 12th I hear. Anyway, you get a discount if you’re a Maxis One Club member.

That’s it from me.

Dug Up Some Gold

Friday, April 6th, 2007

The beginning of the end of my semester has started. I heard that classes would finish by the end of April therefore making May final exam month. And I also heard we have one or two weeks study break. Either way, this time I’m determined to fix my CGPA which has been sliding steadily since my first sem in Foundation. Sighs. Damn you summer sem.

Anyway, I already submitted my letter of exemption. Although I didn’t get to discuss the details of it with the course coordinator, I hope when I see the old man tomorrow things would be fine and you’d bet I’ll be arguing his testicles off that I will not take up the LAN subjects again!

After all, I have provided sufficient proof and there’s no grammatical errors in my letter to make him think otherwise.

Talking about grammatical mistakes, a few days ago I discovered my old high school essay book.

Essay_book

On it is my full name, the title ‘English Essay and Composition’ and my class, ‘5B’.

You wonder why I have this book with me now. It’s because it has a lot of unused pages left (90%) that I feel it’s a waste to just leave it at home. I thought I’d use it as some extra book for note-taking, but it ended up becoming one of my sketch books :D. Besides, I love drawing in big spreads.

Also, since form 4 I have made it a point to not use the school’s official big notebook because they look so…school-ish. And the papers are so thin. I don’t like writing on thin papers…

Essay1 Lookie here, my old essay :D. And my teacher even left a comment there. When I read back on my essays I realized just how much more fun and animated they used to be compared to the more serious and somber note of my current essays. I wonder what happened to me? D:

Essay_comment

My high school English teacher was a very competent teacher. She may be boring at times and often missed classes because she’s a PK HEM (Penolong Kanan Hal-Ehwal Murid), but in terms of teaching, she’s a very well-qualified teacher. Some people may think that just anyone can teach English. But they are so damn wrong! It takes talent to teach English! This isn’t like physical education where you can say just anyone can oversee it.

As you might notice, my teacher left a little note there, it says:

"This is very interesting (she’s referring to the essay). However, you’ve the tendency to write the way you speak which leads to incomplete sentences and use of contractions. Try to avoid them to improve your marks."

See? ALL teachers should give valuable remarks like that these days. University lecturers just have no time to go through your assignments one by one and point out your mistakes now do they? Except for Miss Sandra who was very thorough.

But we didn’t write a lot of essays. I remember that she left me out of most of the extra essay work because I didn’t have problems with my grammar. Only the really weak ones were told to do extra essay homeworks. Hehehehehe. But at the end of the school year we entered some new topics and for exercise’s sake, she made us do some essays for exercise. By then I was overdue on five essays or so and had to submit them all in one day. So I took the liberty of typing them instead.

Essay_type

I miss having red pen marks on my exercise books. Sighs. But still, it’s not enough to make me want to go back to high school heh. I like my current life. I’m not one of those people who moan "Ohh I wish I was back in high school." Yeah, dream on!

Anyway, my English teacher didn’t mind one bit and she went on checking. Of course, my grammar has vastly improved since then and I no longer write in contractions. But why though my essays recently have lost their fun and light-hearted mood. I think it was because I used to hang out with this bunch of RPG-er in MIRC and those people were always so full of quirks. It’s not that we’re not friends anymore. It’s just that I consider myself an MIRC retiree and could no longer be bothered to go there. :/

Oh well, maybe starting work earlier instead of doing them the night before would help greatly :D. Hahahaha.

My family is flying in bit by bit today and tomorrow I’m going to watch Finding Nemo on Ice! Whee!!

Ta’ra!

p/s As you might notice, I’ve changed this blog name back to Yee ‘O Lost Souls from Moon-Eclipsing Pride. All this while I was parody-ing this blog: Sun-Eclipsing Ego. It’s Totchi’s. :D

Random Crap II

Wednesday, April 4th, 2007

I went shopping today. Among the things I bought was this pink puncher.Puncher

And a bright orange ring file.

The puncher came in only three colors. Black, light blue and pink. I took pink just for the heck of it. I  would have gotten the metallic blue one, but it costs 13.80 as opposed to this, which was 8.90. I mean, I’m not gonna spend some extra 4.90 just to get something that does the same thing but only looks slightly different. And I intentionally bought a metal puncher because plastic ones are not as tough.

Because knowing me, long-lastingness is a waste. What’s important is that it’s tough since I often abuse my stuff to the limits. In addition, I am also careless, that’s why I chain my wallet to my ass.

ChainWell, maybe not exactly my ass, but you get the idea.

You see, the reason this chain is on my wallet is because of security’s sake. In the past I often left my wallet on the counter after payment. So with the chain in place, it would tug at my wallet and it will simply hang on. And for extra protection since unlike most girls, I keep my wallet in my back pocket. At least with the chain I would know that my wallet is still in my pocket.

But of course, I always get the stereotypical remarks of "ooh, gangster…".

I mean, WTH. Just because I use the chain means I’m a gangster now? Do they even know what ‘gangster’ means? True, the trend of chains as accesories has faded out a long time ago, and yeah, my chain does double as accessory too, but you know…it’s just…lame, when people say that. But it’s still nice to be noticed. Due to me using chains for a long time now, it has somehow become a part of me.

Right now though, I find it impossible to not use it. I’d feel…insecure. My wallet on my ass…unattached…unattended…on its own…at the mercy of a pick pocket. O_O

*SHUDDERS*

Anyway, last night, I was bored, so I lined up all 13 episodes of Tsukikage Ran and watched most of them. I picked out my favorites and skipped those I like less. Finally went to bed at nearly 5. Fun ^_^.

Later on I’m going to write this exemption letter. The f-king head of business school said that I have to write in and provide proof if I want exemption from LAN subjects. Most universities do this by default. Just saying that some people need to be told how to do their jobs.

Ta’ra.
