Back From Being Submerged

Saturday, April 28th, 2007

First off! Thanks to everyone who sent me birthday wishes! In the comments, SMS (especially the midnight ones. You people like waking me up at night don’t you? But fortunately I go to bed well after 2 am. So no chance of that!) and a call…from my family, obviously. I’ve thought of replying to the comments, but that’d be almost pointless due to the sheer number of them so I’ll just say it here. Thank you very much! And for always reminding how I’m already TWENTY YEARS OLD (20).

But with age comes credibility aye? *raises brows cheekily*

Quoting from an author from AnimeNewsNetwork.com, "Eragon is the reason why teenagers should never publish novels." I agree with him/her explicitly.

I’ll post up pics of my birthday celebration in another post, sorry.

*** End of Special Message :D ***

SGWSS has been busy with moving house these days we had to cancel our library meet often. But I really don’t like that library. It’s noisy and the table is not comfortable. I may be contradicting myself here, but the state library back home is truly what you would call a ‘professional’ library, complete with disgruntled, grumpy librarians and security, eager to prove themselves right.

I got a message from home saying my cousin is there. My cousin from my mother’s side whom I don’t get to see very often unless I go all the way to Miri. Deciding that I won’t bother with sms trivias about her stay, I called up my sis. And we had a long chat, of which I thought it might not be so bad to go home for my study break.  After all, I wasn’t prepared for it to be this long. My last class was during the second week of April, while my final exam commences well into the third week of May, which is on the 22nd. If I had known I would just gone back before my birthday and be done with it.

Yeah, I said commences on purpose because my first paper might even be one week from the commencement date. I’m going to have to inquire about the timetable later and adjust my flight home accordingly. Good to know at least SGWSS will be staying.

I had planned to stay here for the duration of my study break, but seeing as I still have three long weeks ahead of me, I’m going to have to need some funds to sustain me, seeing as I’m hopeless at cooking :/. I’ve thought of staying in KL instead of the hostel but there’s no Internet connection and I could only last perhaps four nights there without Kuja. And geez, I must say my main concern is food. I’m getting tired of eating nasi bungkus everyday. I’m not getting all my nutrients. Even today, all I’ve been eating is sugar crackers! I’m not a freaking parrot!

I’ve told daddyo that I might not go back home in case I won’t study. But the last time I said that was because it was a raya holiday and nobody studies during raya. But was I to know that our finals would be pushed one month back because we have to wait for the Feb intake students to finish with their semester? No. Can I stand eating nasi bungkus  and fast food for the enxt three weeks? God save me.

So I asked my sis to look up flight tickets for me. Get me the cheapest and the earliest. But I want the one on that big plane :D. That new Airbus with the sticker of Tourism Malaysia on it. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to ride on a big plane, aye? More leg room.

Anyway, I know it’s kinda hurried, and I will definitely have to cancel my study plans with SGWSS. But *sighs* if this goes on I might even start losing my hair D:. After all, I need funds to sustain me here. At least at home I won’t need so much. Food especially. Food is important you know.

Oh yeah, ‘back from being submerged’. I actually just finished reading the manga Please Save My Earth. It was said to be the author’s most influential work. Ever. And most shoujo artists of today even referred to it as an influence to their work. And OMG I loved it!! I first saw it on the Buried Treasure section of AnimeNewsNetwork (ANN) and thought I’d go look for it. I found the 6-episode OVA and complete 12 vol manga at Boxtorrents.com. The author at ANN suggested watching the OVA first then read the manga. But the anime was downloading so much slower than the manga. I finished reading it after wtaching four episodes of the OVA and found out that towards the end, the arts do improve as closely as the OVA.

Now, now, I didn’t want to reccomend it to other people without ‘proofreading’ it first or they might come back at me and blame me for making them read #$&$%&, you know?

Well, all I have to say is this: It wasn’t the author’s most influential work for nothing. It’s a bit old, but it was so worth it. And yeah I know I should be studying for my exam but you can’t study 24/7 you know. I’m hungry. I think I’ll order delivery. No nasi bungkus for me tonight! :D

I Am Twenty Years Young!

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

Wow! I am finally at that BIG TWO-ZERO! Goodbye teen days!

I have admittedly became almost frantic to the days following my birthday. But I have now embraced it. After all, you can’t cling to your past forever eh? You just have to keep moving forward!

I had dinner with daddyo at Shook! Bukit Bintang. Shook! is the entire collection of the retaurants in the lower ground floor. The one I went was a Chinese restaurant. The restaurants are very classy, and they all are uniquely designed.

Although, the next day I ate the leftover from our dinner and now I have food poisoning. Both of those things I ate apparently went bad overnight, I should have kept to my new year’s resolution that time: Never eat anything that might taste bad, smell bad, but edible.

Uuugh. Had a terrible evening because of it. And I just celebrated my birthday with my homies too just. When I nearly vomitted in the taxi, I swear I was half-way to grabbing my phone to call my homies and friend to call off the night. But I swallowed my stomachache and didn’t say anything about cancelling.

I asked the taxi to stopover at a pharmacy alongside the cake shop where I ordered my cake. The pharmacist was conveniently near the entrance when I came in and I told him my problem. And you know what solution he gave me? He gave me the bullimia method. That’s right, he told me to just vomit and let everything out. I’ll feel enormously relieved than any drug could help me.

Of course, I had a similar problem too when I just arrived here in August last year. And although he gave me some meds, it was the vomitting part that truly relieved me. It wasn’t pleasant. But at least it was quick.

Still, I insisted on getting something. So he gave me a strip of black pills, which are actually charcoal. I could even draw with the pills if I wanted to. I might as well just chew on some arang. He said to take two after I vomit.

I forgot what the pills are supposed to do. Last night I was so sick and tired (literally) I stopped typing this post halfway and went to bed. Now though, at 1:43 pm I am feeling SO much better :D.

Tonight we’re going to have another cake-eating party. So I’m gonna have a birthday celebration three nights in a row! Yay! I’ll go pick up my cheese birthday cake today, the one which I’m supposed to pick up yesterday. Now what beverage would suit a cheesecake eh?  Normally it’s coffee, but something hot and not sweet would be best. One of the worst kinds of combination you’d have is some very rich cheesecake and hot vanilla, at Coffee Bean. It might taste good at first, but I’ll bet both you and your friend wouldn’t be able to finish the last bite of that cake.

I’ll give a full birthday report later and post pics from all three :D. For now I’m going to go live my Life.

Lapse From Reality

If anyone could get me the original PC game The Sims 2 for my birthday I’d really appreciate it :D (shameless, I know). But man, original games are so hard to find. I want that game because I want to see Sephiroth boogies down with his FF crew.

Sephy_sings Sephy_boogies

And getting harrassed by Rinoa. :D

Sephy_and_rinoa Today I’m going to BB. I’m just going to avoid the Mid Valley and Sg. Wang crowd on both the bus and Monorail by leaving late therefore I shall arrive at about 5-6 pm. Daddyo is coming to town to celebrate my birthday :D.

Just in case we can’t take his car out, I’ve already set up several alternatives for where to have dinner hehehehehe.

Oh yeah, the video comes from YouTube. Title? A Day with Sephiroth (on The Sims 2). Funny vid. I love Sephy.

Future Feasabilities EDITED

Friday, April 20th, 2007

Note: I don’t know what went wrong with this post. Everything suddenly got mixed up, with paragraphs appearing out of order.

No library visit again today. SGWSS (Sabahan Girl Who Speaks Sarawakian) is expecting a delivery of a bookshelf she bought two weeks ago so she has to stay home to receive it :/.

And now, at a quarter past four, I have yet to study anything. Soon, though. Just taking my time. My horoscope for yesterday was so smack on the head I almost believed it had really been looking into my mind! Lookie:

Daily extended (by Astrology.com)
Listening to someone is never a waste of time, no matter how impatient you may feel. What is a waste of time is making a hasty decision that turns out to be the wrong decision — and then you have to go back and start all over again. You need to be more patient right now, and focus on research and planning rather than taking action. Put in the time it takes now to make the right choices, and listen to the opinions of people who care about you.

This is so especially true since the last couple of days I’ve been going around getting as much info as I can about doing online business from people and places (I’m talking about websites of course). Security, web host stability and functionality seem to be questions that come out on top. I try to solve this problem by selecting one web host that will cure all. Although, none is ‘perfect’, a well-known one sure gives you more confidence than a super-cheap third party’s, don’t you think? Especially since you’re a total newbie who can’t even design your own website :D.

But reading Sen Ze makes me feel like a rip off. So I took whatever lesson I could and stash it away. :/ Although I like the coat he wore on the cover page :D.

I was talking to this friend who you might call is a bit of an…eccentric. He abhors Windows therefore creates his own Linux system from scratch and now manages his mom’s site, selling cross-stitch online. Odd combination, but that’s people.

He gave me a lot of things to ponder about. Among other things is customer support:

Lucifiel   says:
support? support for what?
Lucifiel   says:
"please help a broke writer with your spare change" kind of support?
Jacob says:
no
Jacob says:
"hai i haev a putar… it wont read your file… i’m incapable of following simple instructions…"
Lucifiel   says:
rotfl!!

Sometimes it pays to know an eccentric.

Most sites that are doing the business model I want have a large FAQ page. I shall need to remember that. And figure out a way to secure the database to prevent people from raping my system.

But it would sure be fun getting to know some locals who had actually done business online before. Know anyone you can introduce to me? xD

In that matter, then I feel if I were to really execute this plan, some of my choices are going to be pretty unpopular with those who have been in the field for a while. ^^

Last night I opened up this Horrible Histories book I have about Awful Egptians, after last night’s conversation escalated to Ancient Egypt. Did you know that those pharaohs just marry whoever they fancy? Even their own siblings! Cleopatra apparently married two of her own brothers; Ptolemy XIII and Ptolemy XIV. And get this, when she married Ptolemy XIII, she was 17 and he was 12!

But Ptolemy XIII died young, drowned in the Nile while he was escaping Cleopatra who was getting friendly with the Romans. Cleo simply married Ptolemy XIV, whom, I assumed, looking at his ‘number’, he’d be younger than Ptolemy XIII. She married not one, but two of her own brothers!

It’s just sick to think about…

p/s I might even re-read Mary Queen of Scots and Her Hopeless Husbands. Tis fun. Specially the cartoons.

AOI THEME!!!!

Thursday, April 19th, 2007

TOTCHI MADE ME AN AOI THEME!! I AM SO EXTREMELY URESHIIII!!! O_O

It even beat out my Hyde theme that I also got from Totchi :D. I would have had asked her to make a Hyde theme too but I would be torn between the two so I shall use this theme for as long as possible. Because Aoi is hot and Totchi is awesome.

I stole this pic from Totchi’s blog post, which was also under the same title, but without the abuse of exclamation marks :D.

Aoi_themeThe theme is hot! Katan is also liking his new theme ^^. He said it matches his skin type. Hahaha!

Thank you very mooch!!

Mix up!

Slight mix-up!

I accidentally posted my ‘Chinese Food Tickle Me Timbers’ post as ‘A Wheel In My Head Is a-Turning’. It happened because I forgot to click ‘post’ and instead just ‘new post’ where I ended up deleting the whole ‘A Wheel In My Head Is a-Turning’ entry and typed in the second post. Anyway, comments for ‘Chinese Food Tickle Me Timbers’ have been saved as comments for ‘A Wheel In My Head Is a-Turning’ due to this mix up. Tis funny :D.

That’s all!

Chinese Food Tickle Me Timbers

Thursday, April 19th, 2007

For days now I’ve been thinking about Chinese food. Is it because my birthday is coming? Because we often go to Toh Yuen at Hilton Kuching to celebrate birthdays. Therefore, Chinese food is very synonym to birthdays to me.

Ever since I arrived here I have yet to eat any quality Chinese food. It’s a huge disappointment that almost every Chinese restaurants in town serve pork *sighs*. But to make up for it I did eat a lot of Jap food. Although sometimes a bit excessively hehe. But still, I miss those round, buttery prawns and firm, yet soft ginger venison. Or the heavenly steamed cod fish O_O.

Uuwaaaa!!

I looked up Chinese restaurants and would you know it? Hilton Petaling Jaya has both their Chinese and Japanese restaurant and guess what that Chinese restaurant is? Yep, that’s right - Toh Yuen! Unlike the Shanghai Restaurant at Marriot, it is HALAL! Well of course, I think Toh Yuen is like, a Halal Chinese restaurant franchise or something. Anyway, it’s been a while since I went to Meisan at Holiday Inn too. I wonder what happened to it? O_o

Yeah, yeah, you guys who could eat non-halal food are laughing at me. But that’s reality.

However, there would only be me and daddyo. It’s no fun just eating with daddyo D:. We should surely import more people :D. After all, Chinese restaurants have big tables, no?

Well I should be getting ready now. I’m heading off to the library soon to studay!

A Wheel In My Head Is a-Turning

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

Once I start thinking about a possible business idea it’s hard to stay calm and focused, other than thinking about that particular idea.

I’ve been stuck in a rut thinking how I’m soon going to hit the big TWO-ZERO. In a matter of days I’ll be two decades old. It is a depressing thought. Especially since today I cancelled my plan to go to the library due to sleeping too late to wake up early enough to study efficiently. But I still studied anyway. Now I have one more chapter to go through. By next week I shall be divulging deep into the subject. Right now I’m just scratching the surface.

Anyway, after reading about one and a half chapter or so, I stopped. Then I took a moment to think if I had had any significant achievement in my soon-to-be two decades of life and I realized…there was none.

And got depressed.

Before I entered university, one of my goals was to graduate with a steady stream of self-made steady income at the side. (Notice that the previous sentence has a lot of words starting with ’s’? :D) I already finished Foundation, and still, nothing substantial happened. Now I’m already at the second semester of my first year of degree and still nothing significant! In fact, instead of moving forward, I feel as if I’m moving backwards in this place! And I’m going to turn two decades old in FOUR DAYS!!

Unwilling to give in to my depression, I finally whipped out the book How To Use The Internet To Earn A Massive, Passive, Income In Your Pajamas! by Sen Ze. This is Sen Ze’s second book. I mentioned his first book somewhere in my blog before. Anyway, I haven’t touched that book due to the lack of…well, I was just lazy to read.  Wasn’t in a receptive frame of mind. I looked at the cover of the book and thought "Yeah? Well, impress me."

And impressed I was!

I read the first few chapters, combined with the knowledge imparted in his first book, I finally came up with a new business idea! At home I have this notebook where I write down all my ideas in as much detail as I can, but to accomodate myself here, I wrote it down in one of my many miscellanous notebook. I even contemplated writing it in the Death Note hehehe.

Then, as I expanded my idea, I grew restless. And not to mention hungry. Because then I hadn’t had dinner yet.

Right. So I expanded my idea and remembered that I have a book (new too) called IdeaSpotting! I unwrapped it (it was still shrink wrapped :D) and started reading that too. So tonight I read two new books at once. Which is a new feat to me. I didn’t finish them on the spot though, lest I’ll forgot what the message they want to convey.

After I read the two books I realized how far I’ve strayed from my original goal in life, one that I know will shape my destiny. And I know I’m destined for greatness (note the pride?). Even if people want to say otherwise, who’s to say I will or will not achieve greatness eh? Neither had happened yet.

I even went back to my new year’s resolution and thought how lame and thoughtless they were. So I added a couple more to them:

1. I will Get A LIFE,

2. I will end the year a Significantly Better Person.

‘Significant’ has yet to be defined, but so are ‘anime’ and ‘manga’. Therefore, as long as it is significant, it is significant and I will know.

IdeaSpotting has a lot of great quotes. And I like quotes. I prefer them over poems that merely describes a serene environment at some foreign lakeside. My sis said it’s because I’m rather stoic and has no love for the ’soft’ abstract arts of poems and whatnot. I feel quite differently. I like poems, so long as they left me feeling inspired. But poems tend to be too long and winded that they detracted from their original meaning. Therefore quartets are good :D.

One of my favorite quotes from IdeaSpotting is from Dr. Seuss:

"You have brains in your head,

you have feet in your shoes.

You can steer yourself

any direction you choose…

Out there things can happen

and frequently do

to people as brainy

and footsy as you"

-Dr.  Seuss, Oh, the Places You’ll Go.

*dreamy sighs* Yep, things will happen to people as brainy and footsy as me :D.

When I told Gary about about not having any significant achievements, you know what he said? He said I have fiber optics and can watch lots of animes. IS THAT AN ACHIEVEMENT??!

Well, at least I can rest assured knowing that no matter how old I become, you, Gary, will always be older than me. Even if by a mere one day.

I have one more chapter of Comp Law to go through before I’m done for the night. Then I can divulge about my future more. Hehehe.

Finally Inspired Enough

Tuesday, April 17th, 2007

I initially thought I wouldn’t update my blog tonight but after I listenend to Lonely In Gorgeous I found enough inspiration to write :D. It’s the opening theme for Paradise Kiss and it’s so very the kick ass! I even watched most of Parakiss’s opening credits just because I like the song. I’ve been meaning to search for this song, but I kinda forgot about it. Good thing Totchi has it. She even uploaded it and posted the link on her blog! It’s a cool song, but the actual video clip is stupid. The opening theme video clip is way better.

I watched the ending of Parakiss twice. One on the VCD and second on Animax. It was only after the second watching did I finally get it. Geez. Stupid China subs! Yeah, I think the subs were made in China. Which explains the romanization of the kanji instead of the actual Japanese name!

If not then HOW THE HELL DID RIKU BECOMES YUAN!!?!

And the subs are always inconsistent. God!

Don’t make me start.

Okay you’re not, but, gaah!!

After I went to nap at about 9 pm I woke up at 11 and decided that I am not going to have noodles again tonight. So I went and made french toast. 4 out of the 6 toasts I made almost turned out all black. :| I can’t even make french toast now can I?

But at least they were…crispy.

Anyway, now I wonder if I’ll be able to sleep again. I have to study tomorrow :|.

Short post today. Ta’ra!

Edit: On second thought, don’t watch the original PV. It spoils the mood horribly.
