Entertainment, As Far As Mine Goes.

I think my connection is a little retarded at the moment. Although I have yet to ascertain if it’s the connection or the router. When I think about it, it’s not too weird if the router went insane for a while. After all, that thing is basically on 24/7. It has even set up its own firewall and preventing my bt. I wonder if it’s been tempered with…

Anyway, Last night I finished reading Deathnote. And for a while now I’ve been a sort of Deathnote junkie. It all started after I downloaded the movie. When I arrived from Kuching Wednesday night it was 10pm++, then took the Skybus to KL Central and a taxi to BB. I’d earlier planned to just go back to the hostel that night, but I had to meet someone (who ended up ditching me and didn’t leave a word about it) on  Friday at KLCC. I stayed in KL for three nights and went back on the fourth night, Saturday. During that time, I was anime- and manga-less therefore resisting to visit one of those otaku shops at Sg. Wang proved futile. And then there was Animax to entice me.

The shop I went to said they were sold out on the DEATHNOTE notebook and wouldn’t have any until the end of the CNY season. Those merchandises all came from China and he said his boss will go there again after CNY or something. I actually just wanted the notebook on a whim since I wouldn’t rest easy until I bought something. That’s right, retail teraphy. So in the end I bought Deathnote anime eps 1-4 because I plan to download the rest. And the subs were not English-Chinese. It was Malay-Chinese. Which surprised me.

Anyway, the guy at the comic shop was amusing. Observe:

Me: Do you people still have that Deathnote notebook? The ones you had before?

Guy: No, we don’t have anymore. Those were pretty popular.

Me: I see, too bad.

Guy: But we might get some new stock though after CNY.

And conversation goes on. And I slid the VCD I bought forward, indicating that was the only purchase I’m going to make.

Guy:  So, do you like the deathnote? (I nearly rolled my eyes at him but oh well)

Me: *nods* Yeah.

Guy: Then why don’t you go buy the comics? The Malay ones. (he’s good at promoting stuff at the shop)

Me: *grins* Oh I get them from other sources heh heh heh…

Guy: *smiles as if he understood what I said*

notice how he said ’so do you like the deathnote’? It was an admired attempt at a conversation on his part though.

Anyway, I’m just blabbering.

Also, the next day I went to the same shop, but on the fourth floor (the shop had two branches at Sg. Wang) and finally bought LOVELESS’s DVD. Everyone, heed my warning:

DO NOT BUY LOVELESS DVD!!!

You’re just gonna end up frustrated. Every ep ended at 17minutes, six minutes short of the actual time. The subbing was fansub quality, which was really too bad. It’s in addition, is a waste of money. But you see, I’m a true fan so it didn’t matter too much to me. sighs. Anyway, I already have it on fansub and like I said, I only bought those animes on a whim because I was deprived D’=!

If you want LOVELESS, come to me. I have them :D. So you don’t have to keep going back to YouTube for them hehehe. *leers at Shin Chan*

I rewatched LOVELESS again today. Only some of the eps though. If you don’t want any spoilers, don’t read. But not too much though. It wont ruin the story line. Just a discussion on my part. (I know my sis is going to skip this part coz she reads my blog and admits that she skips parts that are unfamiliar, like this, for instance :P)

Anyway, LOVELESS’s lead is Ritsuka, a 12 year old (cat)boy. His brother is Seimei (17). For some reason, these two are among those people with a pre-determined ‘actual’ name. Ritsuka’s real name is Loveless (hence the title) while Seimei’s real name is Beloved. See? Opposite names for brothers. How interesting. Anyway, the names come with a pair.  Which means, there will always be two people with the same name. The other Beloved is Soubi. Together, Seimei is the Sacrifice and Soubi is the Fighter. Fighter fights while the Sacrifice absorbs the Fighter’s damage. People with different actual names often have battles with each other you see.

So once the story starts, Seimei had died and left his Fighter, Soubi, to Ritsuka. But how can that be? Ritsuka and Soubi have different names. Therefore, when they pair up in a battle, their damage is doubled and Soubi’s fighting powers decreased slightly. They fought other pairs (Sleepless, Breathless etc.).

Which led me to wonder…where is the other Loveless? Somehow it was predecided that Ritsuka was to be the Sacrifice therefore the other Loveless would be the Fighter. For now Ritsuka is paired with Soubi but he would have to leave him once the Loveless Fighter shows up right? But looking at how attached Soubi has become to Ritsuka, such things would be hard.

But what I would like to speculate is who the Loveless Fighter is. Will it be male? Female? Looking at the current plotline, the likeliness that he’s a male is higher. When you think about it, same-sex pairs are closer than different sex partners. Most boy/girl pairs are close, in a siblings sort of way, while same-sex pairs always appear to regard the other as a lover or life partner…

Hmmmm. I hope there’s a LOVELESS 2, Just like how I hope there’s a TACTICS 2. Tactics was a damn good anime. But the end matter wasn’t really resolved, even though the ending was decent. Same with Loveless. I really want to see the Fighter Loveless. sighs. I guess we can’t always have everything we want eh.

Just like that Light Yagami. When I read the ending chapters I was like…

"……."

*information processing*

"…’this story of DEATHNOTE is end’…"

"..Decent."

Quoting the scanlator’s editor, "the author has as much knowledge of English as a parakeet".

I had expected that kind of ending since Light was getting to be a bit too hard to swallow towards the end. He’s evil alright, but if he planned to kill all those people in his investigation team, it’s a little…too evil. Although, he could had died more elegantly, like, it was a pre-made deal with Ryuuk. Something like:

"Should I not be able to create my new world and my plan crumbles…then I have no more desire to live in this world. Then, Ryuuk, do as you must."

Instead of how…pathetically he died…

Totchi went into a tantrum over it (Kinda. She wants Near dead). Myself** thought that Light deserved it. But well, everyone has their own opinions. *shrugs* I just thought it was decent. (Although, if Near had died first that’d be even better).

**I’ve grown used to addressing my Norwegian counterpart as Me, therefore, Myself, with a capital M.

Today I received a couple of a series of voluntary SMSes. That’s rare these days, what’s with everyone on holiday and stuff. So the texting spree starts again when people are under stress huh? Hahahaha. I kinda noticed that I started being text-extrovert when I’m monologuing to myself too much. Texting: a way of channeling those thoughts. Totchi’s complaints are always similar to mine though. And it’s her first day in school, so be nice. Hahaha.

Even Myself suddenly texted me about random stuff. Somehow she has this thing on saying random French words. I’m getting used to ‘Oui’ and ‘Que!?’ these days although Que isn’t actually French. And I was right on when she said she had problems getting all the good stuff. I’m talking about anime, of course. I know because I had the same problems too before hehehehe.

Man this is getting too long. I’m sure some of you guys are yawning already.  So, Ta’ra!
