Burn Kuja Burn.

I came back from KL this afternoon bearing dvd-rs. I’ve been buying a lot of cd-rs and dvd-rs lately. While still lacking a burning software for Kuja. People here no longer sell pirated CDs. In a way, it sucks cause that’s the only method of getting softwares for us mere mortals. Then I texted the slave asking him if people still sell pirated CDs in Kuching. After harrassing him for a while for going back to Kuching without telling me, he said I could download the said software.

After taking my night nap I downloaded a 30-day free trial of DeepBurner Pro. It works wonderfully with Kuja’s burner. I’m relieved because I could finally reclaim some space! Before, I was down to less than 300 mb now I’m back with some 10 gig to spare! Yay!

I could finally got some download going again :D.

Due to the wonders of DVD-rs I could stuff a whole series into just one!! Like, the whole of Ouran High School Host Club and Samurai Champloo, both with 26 episodes, were burned into one disc each. I’ve thought of doing the same thing to my Vampire Princess Miyu collection. But then I’d have to transfer the whole thing into Kuja. Not fun. And besides, right before I left for Binary I just bought a stack of 100 generic cd-rs and I havent’t even started using them.

The new CD-Rs and DVD-Rs that I bought are very colorful. One was a set of 25 pink cd-rs with a big picture of a silver ladybug holding an umbrella. Another is the Disney Princess Cinderella 10 CD-R set, all blue and my DVD-Rs are Garfield-themed and pink.

Like I said, colorful. It’s not like I’m a big fan of pink or blue. But the others are all so dull and boring. And aside from Garfield there’s only Eragon the Movie DVD-R set. And I’m not a big fan of Eragon or its movie casts. If it was Pirates of the Caribbean it’d be a different story.

So like, we went to Genting on Saturday. It was fun, it was cold and I got sunburned. Gosh I hate the cold. It makes me sleepy and several times I nearly fell asleep on the bench.

One interesting thing that happened was that, in the cable car on the way back, we made friends with a couple of Chinese nationals. Man, my friends were pretty impressed at how well I carried the conversation. I thought at that time, ‘isn’t it common knowledge that different provinces in China have different dialects?’ but then I remembered that if I hadn’t been told by Gao Lao Shi during my Mandarin conversation course, I probably wouldn’t have known.

I guess it’s a good move on Lao Shi’s part that he not only teaches us Mandarin, but educated us about China, the people and the cultures as well.

I credit them all to my Lao Shi :D.

Iit’s too bad I can’t remember too much of my Mandarin at that time. But I guess it would have been weird for them, the Chinese. I mean, if I was speaking to a Chinese and he speaks Malay occasionally I would get confused too. Should I speak in English or Malay with this person?

And since he spoke good English, better to stick to it anyway.

I saw in my organizer that I have 3 assignments due by the first and second week of March. These are all individual assignments involving long essays, which is good. For me, that is. I like essays. This time I’m committed to finishing them up in time and with style. Last sem I just finished my assignments grudgingly because of my disdain towards my lecturers. But not this time. Disdain or not, I’ll finish them with flair!

And to meet that end, I have searched for resources other than the Internet.

I looked for magazines.

Because books are too expensive.

BB has a lot of great places for magazines. I bought one from MPH  and a couple from Borders. For once, I would like some real citations in my ‘References’ sections that does not involve adding ‘http’ and ends with a ‘.com’.

I have also embraced the fact that the best time for me to work is late at night from 11 pm onwards. I tried doing work earlier, but I get so tired I had to drag myself to bed and take a nap, even at 8 pm. Soon 8 pm might turn into designated nap time.

In a way, too, I feel that it’s timely that I get to go back for CNY. I have a lot of books at home and some of them might be useful in finishing my assignments. Iit’s not always convinient having my dad ‘courier’ my books from Kuching to KL. I have also dedicated my time this week to reading all the magazines I bought. I need to read them all, familiarize myself and get the stuff I need for my assignments.

Last thing I want is the same references as everyone else.

I think I’m tired enough for bed now. Ta’ra.
