Oh My BT…!

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

Problems are not necessarily a bad thing you see. Through them you learn. Because of really annoying problems I have learnt the anatomy of a toilet, how to unclog clogged toilets, portforwarding, details on bittorrent transfers and how to get into my router.

Yeah. things I’d otherwise wouldn’t care before because they’ve been doing fine without any tempering. But now I have no choice. After all, there’s nobody to rely on except myself. And occassionally Gary with whatever little help he can offer. Most of the time he’s not very useful other than as an object of blame.

Aaaanyway, I’m having pizza tonight. When I’m calling for pizza at the hostel I use my number. When I’m at USTBOSH it’s my sis’s number since hers is locked on to that address and explaining is mafan.

And I am seriously not happy with my downloads not budging ever since I came back. Today I toggled around with BT and the router settings again and at the same time ‘power up’ the BT client. There’s been very minimal improvements, but at least better than nothing. But just to make sure, I emailed the service provider.

I’ve started writing again. Last night I was struck by inspiration so it was impossible to stop. Due to that, I slept through my morning class. Partially unintentional, really because I woke up, went back to bed and then "oh no, I overslept" and proceeded to sleeping again. It happens :D.

And also, regarding the story I wrote last night Totchi might get some ideas on it hehehe. Since not long after I started writing I texted her asking various stuff. Along the way I found out a few things. Like, did you know that ‘Haruka’ is actually a very feminime name? I didn’t know that of course. Most of the Harukas I encountered were males (except for Sailor Uranus who was err, a male and female). So yeah, naturally I thought it was male. But then Totchi thought its very female because the kanji for ‘Haruka’ means ’spring fragrance’. So…judge for yourself.

And now that I really think about it, there are many not strictly male or female Japanese names. Sasaki, Mizuki and Kaoru are perfect examples of unisex ones. Those truly female names are normally those ending with ‘ko’ ie Takako, Ryoko, and of course, Sakurako (or Sakura, since it would be weird to have a guy with a given name of Sakura).  And strictly guys names often ends with ‘ro’ like Souchiro Kantaro and Ichiro (ain’t that right Totchi? hehehe).

I’m still debating whether Kazuki is male or female. Most Kazukis I encountered were males, though it might also turn into another Haruka. If I somehow know the kanji behind it, it might help. Or it could just fall as being unisex. Besides, it looks fine on a girl or boy either way.

So hmmmm. Have a lot of stuff to ponder about.

Ta’ra.

I think my connection is a little retarded at the moment. Although I have yet to ascertain if it’s the connection or the router. When I think about it, it’s not too weird if the router went insane for a while. After all, that thing is basically on 24/7. It has even set up its own firewall and preventing my bt. I wonder if it’s been tempered with…

Anyway, Last night I finished reading Deathnote. And for a while now I’ve been a sort of Deathnote junkie. It all started after I downloaded the movie. When I arrived from Kuching Wednesday night it was 10pm++, then took the Skybus to KL Central and a taxi to BB. I’d earlier planned to just go back to the hostel that night, but I had to meet someone (who ended up ditching me and didn’t leave a word about it) on  Friday at KLCC. I stayed in KL for three nights and went back on the fourth night, Saturday. During that time, I was anime- and manga-less therefore resisting to visit one of those otaku shops at Sg. Wang proved futile. And then there was Animax to entice me.

The shop I went to said they were sold out on the DEATHNOTE notebook and wouldn’t have any until the end of the CNY season. Those merchandises all came from China and he said his boss will go there again after CNY or something. I actually just wanted the notebook on a whim since I wouldn’t rest easy until I bought something. That’s right, retail teraphy. So in the end I bought Deathnote anime eps 1-4 because I plan to download the rest. And the subs were not English-Chinese. It was Malay-Chinese. Which surprised me.

Anyway, the guy at the comic shop was amusing. Observe:

Me: Do you people still have that Deathnote notebook? The ones you had before?

Guy: No, we don’t have anymore. Those were pretty popular.

Me: I see, too bad.

Guy: But we might get some new stock though after CNY.

And conversation goes on. And I slid the VCD I bought forward, indicating that was the only purchase I’m going to make.

Guy:  So, do you like the deathnote? (I nearly rolled my eyes at him but oh well)

Me: *nods* Yeah.

Guy: Then why don’t you go buy the comics? The Malay ones. (he’s good at promoting stuff at the shop)

Me: *grins* Oh I get them from other sources heh heh heh…

Guy: *smiles as if he understood what I said*

notice how he said ’so do you like the deathnote’? It was an admired attempt at a conversation on his part though.

Anyway, I’m just blabbering.

Also, the next day I went to the same shop, but on the fourth floor (the shop had two branches at Sg. Wang) and finally bought LOVELESS’s DVD. Everyone, heed my warning:

DO NOT BUY LOVELESS DVD!!!

You’re just gonna end up frustrated. Every ep ended at 17minutes, six minutes short of the actual time. The subbing was fansub quality, which was really too bad. It’s in addition, is a waste of money. But you see, I’m a true fan so it didn’t matter too much to me. sighs. Anyway, I already have it on fansub and like I said, I only bought those animes on a whim because I was deprived D’=!

If you want LOVELESS, come to me. I have them :D. So you don’t have to keep going back to YouTube for them hehehe. *leers at Shin Chan*

I rewatched LOVELESS again today. Only some of the eps though. If you don’t want any spoilers, don’t read. But not too much though. It wont ruin the story line. Just a discussion on my part. (I know my sis is going to skip this part coz she reads my blog and admits that she skips parts that are unfamiliar, like this, for instance :P)

Anyway, LOVELESS’s lead is Ritsuka, a 12 year old (cat)boy. His brother is Seimei (17). For some reason, these two are among those people with a pre-determined ‘actual’ name. Ritsuka’s real name is Loveless (hence the title) while Seimei’s real name is Beloved. See? Opposite names for brothers. How interesting. Anyway, the names come with a pair.  Which means, there will always be two people with the same name. The other Beloved is Soubi. Together, Seimei is the Sacrifice and Soubi is the Fighter. Fighter fights while the Sacrifice absorbs the Fighter’s damage. People with different actual names often have battles with each other you see.

So once the story starts, Seimei had died and left his Fighter, Soubi, to Ritsuka. But how can that be? Ritsuka and Soubi have different names. Therefore, when they pair up in a battle, their damage is doubled and Soubi’s fighting powers decreased slightly. They fought other pairs (Sleepless, Breathless etc.).

Which led me to wonder…where is the other Loveless? Somehow it was predecided that Ritsuka was to be the Sacrifice therefore the other Loveless would be the Fighter. For now Ritsuka is paired with Soubi but he would have to leave him once the Loveless Fighter shows up right? But looking at how attached Soubi has become to Ritsuka, such things would be hard.

But what I would like to speculate is who the Loveless Fighter is. Will it be male? Female? Looking at the current plotline, the likeliness that he’s a male is higher. When you think about it, same-sex pairs are closer than different sex partners. Most boy/girl pairs are close, in a siblings sort of way, while same-sex pairs always appear to regard the other as a lover or life partner…

Hmmmm. I hope there’s a LOVELESS 2, Just like how I hope there’s a TACTICS 2. Tactics was a damn good anime. But the end matter wasn’t really resolved, even though the ending was decent. Same with Loveless. I really want to see the Fighter Loveless. sighs. I guess we can’t always have everything we want eh.

Just like that Light Yagami. When I read the ending chapters I was like…

"……."

*information processing*

"…’this story of DEATHNOTE is end’…"

"..Decent."

Quoting the scanlator’s editor, "the author has as much knowledge of English as a parakeet".

I had expected that kind of ending since Light was getting to be a bit too hard to swallow towards the end. He’s evil alright, but if he planned to kill all those people in his investigation team, it’s a little…too evil. Although, he could had died more elegantly, like, it was a pre-made deal with Ryuuk. Something like:

"Should I not be able to create my new world and my plan crumbles…then I have no more desire to live in this world. Then, Ryuuk, do as you must."

Instead of how…pathetically he died…

Totchi went into a tantrum over it (Kinda. She wants Near dead). Myself** thought that Light deserved it. But well, everyone has their own opinions. *shrugs* I just thought it was decent. (Although, if Near had died first that’d be even better).

**I’ve grown used to addressing my Norwegian counterpart as Me, therefore, Myself, with a capital M.

Today I received a couple of a series of voluntary SMSes. That’s rare these days, what’s with everyone on holiday and stuff. So the texting spree starts again when people are under stress huh? Hahahaha. I kinda noticed that I started being text-extrovert when I’m monologuing to myself too much. Texting: a way of channeling those thoughts. Totchi’s complaints are always similar to mine though. And it’s her first day in school, so be nice. Hahaha.

Even Myself suddenly texted me about random stuff. Somehow she has this thing on saying random French words. I’m getting used to ‘Oui’ and ‘Que!?’ these days although Que isn’t actually French. And I was right on when she said she had problems getting all the good stuff. I’m talking about anime, of course. I know because I had the same problems too before hehehehe.

Man this is getting too long. I’m sure some of you guys are yawning already.  So, Ta’ra!

GARY COME BACK!!

Choleric Sanguine

Sunday, February 18th, 2007

If you’re wondering what that is, no, it’s not a disease. It’s my personality. And it’s not my fault it sounds like a disease. I got it from here. You may try it if you want. It’s fun.

So what does this all mean you wonder? Well let me list to you some description of a Cheloric:

Emotions:

  • Born leader
  • Dynamic and active
  • Compulsive need for change
  • Must correct wrongs
  • Strong-willed and decisive
  • Unemotional
  • Not easily discouraged
  • Independent and self sufficient
  • Exudes confidence
  • Can run anything

I am not sure if I should even began to start feeling happy. Look at the weaknesses. My test results showed that I have 13 strenghts and 10 weaknesses of a cheloric.

Emotions (weakness):

  • Bossy
  • Impatient
  • Quick-tempered
  • Can’t Relax
  • Too impetuous
  • Enjoys controversy and arguments
  • Won’t give up when losing
  • Comes on too strong
  • Inflexible
  • Is not complimentary
  • Dislikes tears and emotions
  • Is unsympathetic

Love me or hate me. When I’m your boss you have nothing to say but follow my orders. Hehehe.

There are also Cheloric at work, as a parent and as a friend but that would be too much information.

The second part of my personality, the senguine (3 strenghts, 5 weaknesses), has this to say:

Emotions:

  • Appealing personality
  • Talkative, Storyteller
  • Life of the Party
  • Good sense of humor
  • Memory for color
  • Physically holds on to listener
  • Emotional and demonstrative
  • Enthusiastic and expressive
  • Cheerful and bubbling over
  • And weaknesses:

  • Compulsive talker
  • Exaggerates and elaborates
  • Dwells on trivia
  • Can’t remember names
  • Scares others off
  • Too happy for some
  • Has restless energy
  • Egotistical
  • For more details, go to the website and take the test yourself.

But you pretty much get the picture don’t you? In addition to being a loyal reader of my blog and the test results above, it comes as little surprise that I am obviously a ‘take charge, bottomline, get things done’ kind of person. I can’t help it. I’m a cheloric sanguine. :D

    Ta’ra.

    My Days Are Numbered

    Saturday, February 17th, 2007

Three nights. I have spent three nights now I only have three more nights left. I think. I’m too lazy to count. Either way, Happy Chinese New Year! I’ll go crash Totchi’s house tomorrow :D. And maybe later on go to Bing’s, if it’s open. If not I’ll drop over before I go back anyway:D. My friend just informed a very exciting news last Thursday. She said our one remaining class next week is canceled!!!

Yay!! So this means next week after CNY I shall have no classes for the whole week!

And yeah, I have lotsa assignments too so bite me.

Anyway, I’ve thought of greeting Kujong at least once. I mean, it might not be possible to finish Suikoden 5 but at least, you know, just getting the gist of it is enough. I need some sort of inspiration to continue my story. Besides, I have been doing nothing but eat and sleep here. Like yesterday, in addition to waking up at almost 2 pm, I took a nap about 2 hours later, and after that, nap again. So I napped twice and slept at night at about 2 am or so. Usually I won’t be as tired. I think it’s tiredness due to sleeping too much. And I think I’m starting to sound like Totchi.

Also got attacked by a massive flu after my first night. It sucks, but oh well. I’m still nursing myself to health even now. Nursing myself to health…that’s so…sad.

I got a buttload of pics to share because the second day I was here, I went to a small wedding. I just arrived and I’m off to a wedding. How nice. But yesterday I got to bum around and do nothing. It’s been a while. I get to wake up and immediately eat lunch. Unlike my days at the hostel, when I wake up hungry it’s gonna be a while before I’m able to eat. Haa~

Oh yeah, the pics. I seem to have misplaced Katan’s PC cable. Still not sure whetehr it’s in KL or here. Hmmm. AT least with Kuja, Katan can bluetooth them over. Takes a while and can only be done one by one, but at least it’s better than nothing. I just checked out animesuki.com and man, there’s so many stuff to download! Among them is DeathNote the movie. Yeah yeah I haven’t watch it yet. But I’m actually waiting for the fansub because the cinema subs are barely readable and Japanese/Hong Kong-made English sub resembles nothing more than crap. (I’m not kidding you on this one).

My years of buying DVDs have made me aware of which DVDs or VCDs have good or bad subs. And when a DVD has NO English synopsis, and it’s ONLY indication is ‘Audio: 1. Japanese, and number 2 sitting on ‘…’, 1. Chinese 2. English’, TRUST ME. You do not want to be disappointed. Those Japs let those Hong Kong people do the subs and those Xiang Kang ren (HK in Pin Yin) are very lazy. They just translated the Chinese into English without any regards to meaning or whatever. When they did Angel Sanctuary, ‘Rociel’ becomes ‘Rikishiru’ and ‘Rishiru’ and whatever it is that didn’t even come close to the original name. ‘Katan’ was never got right. It was always ‘Kadan’ or something else. And why they always spell the names differently each time just escapes me.

That’s why, sometimes, no matter how much you want to support the anime by buying the legitimate DVD or VCD, you’re just gonna end up disappointed. So best to get the fansub and support them differently. I would only be tempted to buy the DVD or VCD when the fansub is of low-quality pictures but got the subbing right. Most subs are right. That said, I might even get Loveless on DVD because the fansub pictures were too bright. XD

I should get my arse back to my asses. So like, happy lunar new year! Ta’ra!

    I’ll never be a lawyer

    Monday, February 12th, 2007

For obvious reasons of course. Law books always use long sentences. A sentence can be three or four lines long and it would still haven’t proven its points yet. I have to read them at least twice to truly understand the meaning. And I am often compelled to re-write them into sentences that I understand. Or I try to make them as fool-proof as possible.

I wonder, if even I am having trouble understand these things, what about the others? Especially them lamers who always pretended they understood things when they actually don’t have a clue.

Is that why people in class always burbled their way through a presentation? Because they don’t really understand?

Ah well. Just glad I’m not in the same group as them. My one group member just totally saved me today. If she hadn’t reminded me I would have forgotten about a little cases review we have to do for tomorrow XD. I could jst salute her because she got a whole different source for her cases while I only have the textbook as reference. You have to admire such initiatives on her part.

Also, while doing the reviews I learned a couple of new words:

Expropriation: to deprive of possesion/ to transfer another’s property to oneself. Source

Estoppel: a bar preventing one from making allegations or a denial that contradicts what one has stated as the truth. Source

To be honest, I thought ‘estopped’ was a typo for ’stopped’, until I looked it up. I fear I might not be able to do my company law assignments if I am not hooked up onto the Internet because of my lack of a dictionary.

And somehow I need to get hooked up on some online journals and databases. Kinda makes me miss Swinburne. It was signed up to a vast database of things. Sighs.

    Ta’ra.

    Burn Kuja Burn.

    Sunday, February 11th, 2007

I came back from KL this afternoon bearing dvd-rs. I’ve been buying a lot of cd-rs and dvd-rs lately. While still lacking a burning software for Kuja. People here no longer sell pirated CDs. In a way, it sucks cause that’s the only method of getting softwares for us mere mortals. Then I texted the slave asking him if people still sell pirated CDs in Kuching. After harrassing him for a while for going back to Kuching without telling me, he said I could download the said software.

After taking my night nap I downloaded a 30-day free trial of DeepBurner Pro. It works wonderfully with Kuja’s burner. I’m relieved because I could finally reclaim some space! Before, I was down to less than 300 mb now I’m back with some 10 gig to spare! Yay!

I could finally got some download going again :D.

Due to the wonders of DVD-rs I could stuff a whole series into just one!! Like, the whole of Ouran High School Host Club and Samurai Champloo, both with 26 episodes, were burned into one disc each. I’ve thought of doing the same thing to my Vampire Princess Miyu collection. But then I’d have to transfer the whole thing into Kuja. Not fun. And besides, right before I left for Binary I just bought a stack of 100 generic cd-rs and I havent’t even started using them.

The new CD-Rs and DVD-Rs that I bought are very colorful. One was a set of 25 pink cd-rs with a big picture of a silver ladybug holding an umbrella. Another is the Disney Princess Cinderella 10 CD-R set, all blue and my DVD-Rs are Garfield-themed and pink.

Like I said, colorful. It’s not like I’m a big fan of pink or blue. But the others are all so dull and boring. And aside from Garfield there’s only Eragon the Movie DVD-R set. And I’m not a big fan of Eragon or its movie casts. If it was Pirates of the Caribbean it’d be a different story.

So like, we went to Genting on Saturday. It was fun, it was cold and I got sunburned. Gosh I hate the cold. It makes me sleepy and several times I nearly fell asleep on the bench.

One interesting thing that happened was that, in the cable car on the way back, we made friends with a couple of Chinese nationals. Man, my friends were pretty impressed at how well I carried the conversation. I thought at that time, ‘isn’t it common knowledge that different provinces in China have different dialects?’ but then I remembered that if I hadn’t been told by Gao Lao Shi during my Mandarin conversation course, I probably wouldn’t have known.

I guess it’s a good move on Lao Shi’s part that he not only teaches us Mandarin, but educated us about China, the people and the cultures as well.

I credit them all to my Lao Shi :D.

Iit’s too bad I can’t remember too much of my Mandarin at that time. But I guess it would have been weird for them, the Chinese. I mean, if I was speaking to a Chinese and he speaks Malay occasionally I would get confused too. Should I speak in English or Malay with this person?

And since he spoke good English, better to stick to it anyway.

I saw in my organizer that I have 3 assignments due by the first and second week of March. These are all individual assignments involving long essays, which is good. For me, that is. I like essays. This time I’m committed to finishing them up in time and with style. Last sem I just finished my assignments grudgingly because of my disdain towards my lecturers. But not this time. Disdain or not, I’ll finish them with flair!

And to meet that end, I have searched for resources other than the Internet.

    I looked for magazines.

    Because books are too expensive.

BB has a lot of great places for magazines. I bought one from MPH  and a couple from Borders. For once, I would like some real citations in my ‘References’ sections that does not involve adding ‘http’ and ends with a ‘.com’.

I have also embraced the fact that the best time for me to work is late at night from 11 pm onwards. I tried doing work earlier, but I get so tired I had to drag myself to bed and take a nap, even at 8 pm. Soon 8 pm might turn into designated nap time.

In a way, too, I feel that it’s timely that I get to go back for CNY. I have a lot of books at home and some of them might be useful in finishing my assignments. Iit’s not always convinient having my dad ‘courier’ my books from Kuching to KL. I have also dedicated my time this week to reading all the magazines I bought. I need to read them all, familiarize myself and get the stuff I need for my assignments.

Last thing I want is the same references as everyone else.

I think I’m tired enough for bed now. Ta’ra.

    Weekend Away A Trend

    Thursday, February 8th, 2007

This weekend I’m going back to BB again since on Saturday I’m going to Genting with a bunch of friends. Those same bunch of friends I have invited to sleep over since we’re leaving early in the morning and my place is obviously closer and more comfortable than their other alternatives.

My family just went home to Kuching today so it’s a little sad to see the once-lively apartment becomes quiet again (I know our downstairs neighbour aka Mr. Chan, would be delighted :P). BUT! Mr. Chan is not going to get his wish. Well not quite. Since I have those bunch of friends over and who knows if we’ll stay quiet enough for his hyper-sensitive ears. In fact, I plan to be intentionally noisy just so he’d complain then I’ll complain to the guard that I’m complaining against Mr. Chan back for complaining against us too much. How’s that??

Seriously, that guy has issues. If he’s too bothered by the noise he might as well just move out and live in a solitary house in the middle of the desert. Unless the desert is not quiet enough for him, that is.

I mean, who complains about a fracture of a second running noise in the house anyway!?

Aaaanyway. I noticed lately that I’ve been spending more and more time away for the weekend. The last time I spent my weekend at the hostel was that weekend of Aoi’s birthday and yet I went to visit that Omani friend’s house on Saturday. After that weekend, I went to Shah Alam and the next weekend, my family came over (where I did a lot of overdue shopping) and this weekend I’m going to Genting. And of course, next weekend is Chinese New Year so I’m going to be at neither because I’m going back to Kuching :D. And thanks to AirAsia flights being full, I have the luxury of taking a MAS flight and taking off from classy KLIA instead of the packed and depressing LCCT. Obviously low-fare airlines are not my cup of tea. But travelling as often as I am now, what choice do I have? sighs.

Now that I remember it, I think I might even be gone for the weekend coming back from CNY. I promised Khaye I’d take her and her friends sightseeing around KL. She said she’s been here for about a month already and she’d wanna at least see KL once. Look at me! Being a tourist guide! I have never even been to KL Tower! Hahahaha!

Khaye and her Kenyan friends apparently are not very close to a lot of locals. That’s pretty understandable since not a lot of locals attend the uni. You get a lot of outstation Malaysian students but not Selangor- or KL-locals. I kinda feel sorry for them since they are really nice people. Most of the local Malaysian students are afraid of them and for what? Because they - the Malaysian students - can’t converse English well!

And this, everyone, is according to the African students themselves. They would approach someone (a Malaysian student) and they would shy away because they can’t speak English well!! I’m telling you, these foreigners should just go to Sarawak where most people’s English are good! The people here are giving a bad image to Malaysians.

You see, these African students have American-standard English so Manglish are complicated for them. Seems like I’m one of the rare ones who speak standard English without the la, lah, lor, ma, meh, ka, kah etc. Or awkward sentences like ‘can or not’ or ‘this is cannot’. Wahahaha.

In order to prepare for that, this weekend I shall need to study a route suiting our foreign friends. Like, where to go, how to get there and stuff and what interesting things to do. It might be interesting since there are places I wanna go to too hehehe.

Woo my tickets for my CNY break just came!

    Ta’ra!

    Prosperity Abundance

    Wednesday, February 7th, 2007

Last Monday when I picked up my laundry that I sent on Wednesday the week before, the auntie gave me two Mandarin oranges from the box on their counter. When I looked at that box I suddenly thought to myself…

I want a box of oranges too!

I wasn’t sure why, but I want it! I think it’s just like that time with the mooncake. I saw them on sale and people buying them, and I just thought I want them too!

See here, that’s how a shopaholic mind works.

Last night I finally got my wish. My family was having dinner at the bryani rice restaurant in Subang. I told my sis since they were in the area, could they get me a box of oranges that are plentiful everywhere? She asked if I wanted the big ones or the small ones. I said whichever is fine, so long as they are sweet.

Some time later my sis showed up with two ‘baskets’ of small oranges. I took only one because I’ll be leaving for BB for the weekend and even if I had two baskets, I was certain the other one would not survive the weekend. So I just took one to satisfy my own whims and stuffed myself last night. Hehehee.

I want my basket-full of prosperity too see!

    Oren

The orangers are all so cute!! They are nice and seedless. So you can even eat them whole after peeled! I really don’t want them to finish but looking at the meager number they are now, it’s better if I just finish them off or lose them over the weekend. I wish I could have more in BB but oh well. I’ll be going home for Chinese New Year yay! So hopefully more mini oranges waiting for me there ^_^.

I think I should just start my own lunar calendar since I seem to be celebrating CNY and the moon cake festival. Hahahaha.

Some day I need to ask how does these oranges relate to prosperity.

    Ta’ra.

    Things Are Just Never Easy

    Wednesday, February 7th, 2007

Yesterday I officially dealt with the lamers for the last time! But just as I stopped showing mercy to them, other things came up!! However, I am not one to give up easily. I stayed up till almost four in the morning to do the freaking slides I’m not gonna go down without fighting!!!

    Huff huff huff…

First let me start with Sunday. On Sunday my blissful weekend with my family officially ended. I asked daddyo to send me back to the hostel that night because I have the group’s final discussion on Monday. And that discussion is all-important, given the people I work with. So I said good bye to my family and BB and went back to work. On Monday we had the discussion as planned.

Being the lamers they are, I showed no mercy from the first time they started giving me lame excuses. I told them I want their speeches and citations by that night no matter what it takes. Unfortunately, only their speeches reached me that night. They ‘forgot’ about the citations because the info was taken from various random websites.

I finished the report regardless, and did the slides; the one thing I’m very proud of. I included a lot of pictures from Katan. My sis, her honeybee, my cousin and some of my friends (Totchi included, of course) were in it. It contained a lot of my Swinburne memories so it MUST be good!

When I went to bed at almost four that night, I went to bed despising the lamers with every fibre of my being (the same fibre of my being that nearly collapsed from the workload due to other people’s procrastination).

As you guys already know, citations are important when it comes to doing assignments. You could be charged for plagiarism which translate into a direct fail - no questions asked. That was the last thing I wanted.

I did not care for excuses, remember?

That said, the next day I forced them to give me their citations, in full Harvard referencing format, and not just mere links. I forewarned them that if they just gave me links I expected them to expect me to go look into those links and do the full citations. Like hell! Therefore if I got just links I’ll reject them flat out and if the lecturer asks, I’m putting the blame on them. That’s what I told them and after the morning class on Tuesday they squirmed and panic, forsaking their lunch to find their citations. I went home to wait for the citations before printing the report. When their deadline of 1:45 pm came, I called and they said they were still in college.

I swear, if they had been in front of me at that time I would just punch the air out of them.

She said if it’s okay to just sms since she wont be able to get to where I am and back in time. I said fine, but make it snappy.

By 2 pm I still receive no sms so I hit the print button. As Kaoru was happily printing away, the sms came with -  surprise! - links!

I sms them back saying they were too late and their ‘citations’ were mere links which I did not care to type back.  And besides, I was already running late for class.

Did I care they went through the painstaking trouble of retyping every single detail of the links into the sms? Did I care if they went to class hungry that day? Did I care that I was unexcusably mean to them that morning?

No. Not at all. Well, maybe a bit, but that was easily written off by their pathetic-ness.

In the end, I didn’t get to bind the report in time for our afternoon class where we’re supposed to have the presentation. I simply handed the report to them and told them to bind it and add a front and back cover. At their expense, of course.

So that was it for the report. The only citations available in the ‘references’ section were those for pictures about Kenya and an appendix section of the introduction page I made. If teacher ask I’ll shamelessly point my finger to them.

But my trouble was far from over. Our lecturer did not book a laptop for our presentation. She said I didn’t request for one. I had assumed her to have one ready since it’s, well, a presentation, and she had encouraged me to use slides or whatever. I could have cursed and blamed her. But then again, it was my fault too. My fault for assuming. And besides, blaming her wasn’t going to help me show off my beautiful slides to the class.

So I made a call and did not get the laptop I wanted. The teacher told me to try the IT department. Shamefully, I tried and they were out of laptops. Fortunately, however, a Ghana-ian student was in the IT dept too, listening to music from his laptop. We asked to borrow it and to my surprise! - and God bless him - he agreed!!

It was only for half an hour and he will be at the gym at that time so he said it was no toruble. So Khaye and I happily went back to the classroom thinking our troubles were over. The teacher was surprised we had a laptop but then wondered how are we going to connect it to the projector.

    I was stunned.

No cable was going to stop me from presenting my slides. Not now, not ever. I was determined to do this. I went through the trouble of getting this laptop now all I needed was a cable.

So we went back to the IT dept. and after nearly agreeing to trade my number for it, I got the cable!

After that things were smooth sailing and I was happy. In addition, no numbers were traded that day phew.

It’s just like the old saying: If there’s a will, there’s a way.

Lamers certainly did not have the will. Their will went on vacation and never returned.

It’s interesting to note that all the lamers I’ve dealt with have an older boyfriend. And I mean way older. Like 8-15 years older. You’d expect these lamers to act more mature but what do you get?? Babies!

    Sighs.

But at least the presentation was over and I celebrated by eating good food mother brought from home and reading. I finally finished The Seer and the Sword today. ’twas a good read. I am happy. Now I wonder if I should watch anime, draw or write?

I had a look at my organizer and found that I have only individual assignments left. These assignments are all due in the second week of March which means I have approximately four weeks to complete them. And all three assignments involve doing 1500-2000 words essays.

At least essays are something I’m good at. And I don’t have to bother about checking other people’s works.

    Ta’ra.
