I’m smiling with glee
Due to crappy’ friendster’s scheduled maintenance yesterday, I couldn’t update my blog. But I didn’t really have much to say anyway. Today we got our first assignment (yay!). It’s individual work so I am contented. Don’t have to put up with any lamers :P. In fact, from what I find out, all of my assignments and coming assignments are individual works. It’s due a week before the exam so still have a lot of time. But really, the classes here are so free I feel like a brindlehound on a loose leash. I’m not kidding.
You see, the morning classes are from 10:10 to 1:15 and the afternoon classes are 2:15 to 5:30. So you can have only two subjects a day, with a maximum of 6 hours of classes. And it’s like the university’s policy to have only 4 days of classes so each student has 3 days off plus weekend. They said the extra time is for you to do your assignments. Well I’m not complaining hehehe. I like the abundance of time. More time to do stuff. But still, that also means you only see your teachers once a week suring lctures. There’s no such thing as tutorials here. They call it ‘Interactive Learning’ (IL). Just a fancy way of saying "we don’t have enough teachers to teach you so you go and study yourself". IL can be done anywhere, even in bed (sleeping). I think they just put those IL slots to make the timetable looks full anyway.
Our accounting and economics and even stats and maths subjects makes me feel like I’m going backwards. Why do I need to learn about journals and ledgers again anyway?! I already know this stuff. I was surprised to find that some or even most of the students in my class have never taken the subject eyt. Which means, I’m going to have to it through basic accounting again. It doesn’t really suck, since I know I can easily get ahead in this class. But you know, everyong else in Swinburne are moving forward while I’m going backwards!
I’m going to get started on the assignment so off I go to email Mr. Foong hehehehe. Ta’ra!
