Short moments of sanity

Friday, May 19th, 2006

Man. This is a hectic two weeks. I have three assignments to finish up and at the end of it all, tests! YAY!

Yes, yay. There’s no use moping about it anymore. Might as well just celebrate it.

When can I finally play Suikoden V?!!??!?!?! Oh my Suikoden V!!! It’s rotting in the corner!

I should get back to work. TA’RA!

Patriotism

Tuesday, May 16th, 2006

I know it’s not exactly August the 31st, but whenever is a good time to talk about patriotisim. You see, I have always been a very patriotic person. I don’t buy pirated stuff, for instance (except for the occasional DVD movies and games hehehe). But when it comes to local movies, I always buy original. Why? Because they only come in VCD and pirated VCDs are crap. I stopped buying them long a time ago.

Talking about local movies, there are several people I adore. To be frank, there are three actresses I always enjoy watching. Firstly is Zizie Ezette. She’s just so cool. Her tele-movies included Aduhai Esah (where she plays a mentally impaired woman) and starred in a lot of other series. Right now she’s acting in Marikas a new series on TV3. I saw the trailer of the series, saw her and decided to give it a chance. It’s really not bad. She really knows how to light up the screen. I mean, she’s one extremely talented actress. She can play any role. Be it a crazy woman, egoistical, poor, kind. Just name it. She can do it. Also, what I like about her is, she’s not looking for fame. She can act and she acts extremely well.

She acts because she loves acting, unlike those Akademi Fantasia freaks. Less than a week out of the academy and they are off acting, doing commercials and a bunch of other crap. They are not popular because they are talented, they are famous because they are celebrities. I respect Parish Hilton more than these idiots. Mawi is so gai.

Anyway, back to Zizie. You see, although she is very talented, you don’t see her in the silver screen. I think this is fine by her. I mean, she’s doing very well on TV. She doesn’t need to go to the big screen in some crappy Metrowealth production. I wouldn’t object if she does go to the big screen though. If she’s acting in a significant role, I would definitely go and watch it. But if the movie turns out crap, I will only blame the producers. They haven’t done Zizie justice. Furthermore, Zizie is not overrated like Erra Fazira and her clan of singers-turned-actors (like the AF lot). Also, I would not hesitate to compare her to my next choice of favorite local actress:

Jasmin Hamid.

Actually, I would say Zizie is the chubbier version of Jasmin Hamid. She’s a big player in the Malaysian telemovie scene. Like Zizie, she doesn’t need a big screen debut to make her famous. She started with one small movie or telemovie at a time and they just accumulate. She’s also very talented. She can carry any role. From the most feminime, slutty person there is to a motherly or detrimental person. It’s always fun watching her on TV. She always perform her roles flawlessly.

The third actress is pretty new to me, but she showed a lot of potentials. Unlike the previous two, she debuted in the big screen. She is Sharifah Armani, the lead actress of Sepet. I loved that movie. It came out the same time as stupid Sembilu 2005 (watch Sembelit 2006, it’s a better alternative)and they carried the same theme. inter-racial love. Sepet pulled it off elegantly while Sembilu well…drop dead cliches with tons of absuditiy and stupidity. I have yet watch Gubra. I’ll just get the VCD I guess. I even watched Sepet on VCD because I missed the showing. But I already sold the VCD to my friend in China. In fact, I sold her all of my Malay movies. For half price, but at least I got rid of them. Although, I was a bit reluctant to let go of Puteri Gunung Ledang and Sepet. But oh well.

It was hard finding pictures of Jasmin Hamid so I’ll just take a pic of her on TV one day and post it. And Zizie too. But I’ll try though. These three deserve my recognition. Hehehehe.

Moving away from entertainment, I would also state my support for the national badminton squad. Especially Kuan Beng Hong. Why? Because he’s so damn cute. First time I saw him was when he was playing in the semi final against Denmark during the Thomas Cup. He was only the substitue because the actual person got hurt. He’s quite young and inexperienced, ranked number 4 in the Malaysian badminton scene. But you can’t blame the guy. He’s got potential and that’s all that matters. Needless to say, he lost that match with Denmark (as expected of him, really) and you know what he did afterwards? He cried. He cried like a girl. But damn. He looks sooo cute when he cried! It should be crime for badminton players to be this hot.Kbh Kbh1 I am therefore officially the badminton squad’s fangirl. Fan_kuan_beng_hong Also, as I was looking around, I found out that this guy has a whole forum dedicated to him. Fan forums at that!

Don’t worry about the Thomas Cup, Ah Hong! Work harder in the future! I’ll support you!! :D

Ah Hong is the first person who reminded me of a real life anime shounen. Probably because the Thomas Cup was held in Japan. Hehehe

Also, the Danish player he went against was so damn hot too. To be honest, I watched the match mostly for the eye-candy benefit of it. I mean hey, I’m only human. Wo pu kuo shi ke pu tong ren er yi :D.

So you see? Aren’t I a very patriotic person? On National Day I hang my flag and stuff but giving support to the local hardworking people is important too *nods, nods*! Now this patriotic person must go to bed.

Ta’ra!

p/s God, I love Hyde. I must rape him. Why is he so sexy??

Morita Rambling At Night

Monday, May 15th, 2006

Tonight I did not do any crunches. As I always would if I’m not going to the gym. If I go to the gym I do crunches for the lower abs. I keep track of how many sets and reps on a post-it note on my mirror :D. But not those I do at the gym. At home I do normal crunches aiming for a minimum of 50 reps.

Anyway, I couldn’t do crunches tonight because my stomach was full by 10 pm. That’s the usual time if I do my crunches past 8 pm. I remember doing them after drinking half a glass of milk. Ugh. Dizziness. But to make up for it, I had two glasses of milk with honey today hehehe.I must have one before bed to stock up on protein. Why? Because as you sleep, your body pulls energy away from your muscles. You don’t want your muscle to wither as you sleep do you? Especially after all the hard work you put in them! I suppose the milk and honey prepares your muscles for sleep so that when your body takes energy from it, they are better off. The protein in milk restores them. Or at least, keeps them lean before you get more protein :D.

Listen to me! I’m the nutrition expert! Hahaha! I don’t even eat onions!

Anyway, tonight I will sleep for 8 hours and do yoga abs in the morning. Lookie! I’m gonna do yoga! Hahahahahahahaha!

Ahem. Actually, yes I am. But you know, it sounds funny when I’m saying it.

After our test at 7:30-9 pm just now, we went for dinner. Or more like a night cap. I ate roti canai :D. I wanted to take a picture of it but I forgot. J&J is one of the rare places that has roti canai all day long. Unlike most places, they only have roti canai in the morning. And the roti canai at J&J is sooo nice! ^_^

So that’s why I couldn’t do crunches. But it’s not like I go for a night cap every night. Once in a while is okay, but too often and you’re just adding up calories as you go to sleep.

Oh and the test went okay. It’s probably our luck that we had that subject’s class as the last class that day so we had a good revision. But then again, I’m not that confident.

Man, I gave my organizer a slight revival today. I think from now on I will only plan things one week ahead. Doesn’t it sound cool when someone make plans with you and you say "Let me check my schedule" or "I’ll check my organizer". Hehehe. And yes, Totchi, Morita will go watch DaVinci Code this Saturday. Morita’s organizer says Morita is free in the morning. Unless Morita decides to go jogging that morning from which resheduling is imminent heh heh.

And really, going "Morita, Morita Go Go" all the time at me makes me think of… itu sotong kurita…O.o

Three assignments due in two weeks. I know I’ve said to plan things ahead. But doing stuff last minute is so much fun no?

Demotivation: Procrastination: Why do things now when you can do them later?

Good night.

Ta’ra!

I want my gamer life back

Sunday, May 14th, 2006

Let me once again crap about my connection. It’s weird how only my computer got disconnected while the other two computers are fine. That’s just insane. That’s injustice!

Anyway, election is in the air. A lot of banners and flags are up these days. My area is pretty much a dark blue (BN) dominated area. I saw only one house that is like the center for the opposition party. But it looks pretty sad, really. Because surrounding that house are heaps and heaps of BN flags and banners. Like I said, it’s a BN-dominated area. There are also balloons and stuff up. So far there’s three. Wouldn’t it look cool to have one of those balloons attached to your car and follows you around as you drive?  Hehehehe. With all the banners and flags up, there are also abuse of local vegetations.

TreePoor tree.

Also, two of my scarf-handkerchief have been missing lately. It’s all due to this culprit. He borrowed them for fashion’s sake. And here’s he’s learning how to tie the scarf on a special way where you just pull one side to untie it. I learned it from PBSM. So first, assume a mediatation pose. Then, tie a red scarf around your head to show spirit:

Tying

Then, do your best to tie. Turn away and close your eyes to show you’re getting better.

Tying1

Took more than ten tries, but at last he succeeded. But he might have forgotten when he got home.

So…can I have them back now please? :|

Ohhh I just got a late birthday prezzie! It’s on CT-ROM. Hehehehe. I’ve been wanting to try yoga for a while. Thanks man!

Yesterday I finally bought Suikoden V!! YAY!! Now I wonder just when can I start playing it. Oh yeah, correction on the last post. It wasn’t Tales of Destiny 2, It’s actually Tales of Legendia. I keep confusing those two titles. I don’t even have Tales of Destiny 2. I had the first one, but I didn’t finish it. It was a good game though, with super-deformed 2d sprites.

Friendster wouldn’t let me update my photos. I hate it. I hear June 17th is earmarked as being Gym Night. I don’t know why, but I’m looking forward to it. :D. Alen is going to perform Dangdut that night. Should make him a bet for it hehehe.

June 17, July 2nd. Both important dates hehehe.

Aaa~ afternoon black and white movie. Fun.

Oh MUET tomorrow morning. Cant remember the last time I woke up at 6 for school.

Ta’ra.

Random Crap as per usual~

Friday, May 12th, 2006

I’ll say this first off; treadmill with incline is a gift from heaven. You could walk on a 6.5 incline for 30 minutes and burn just as much calorie as you would running for the same time. But of course, this is just hypothetically speaking. I went easy on my legs today because I felt a slight pain on my foot and the front area between the knee and the ankle of my left leg. Tomorrow I’ll go jogging hehehe. I also have some discussion tomorrow. Contemplating skipping my mandarin class too because I’m too lazy :P.

Lately I’ve been thinking of the end of semester lecturer/tutor evaluation. Somehow we’ve been reminded about it a few times already. I already have a few words ready to describe certain lecturers. Exspecially the most fun and the most boring. And of course, I’ll be very honest. As honest as I can be. Hehehehe.

Just now I checked two games that I have been looking forward to: Suikoden V (I’m officially a Suikoden Sucker) and Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria. GOSH! Silmeria is so cute! I can’t wait to play it!! But it’s still some time off before it’s released in September. Before that though, I have the awesomest SUIKODEN V!!! I forgot to update myself and found out that it’s already released!!! Tomorrow I shall go and grab a copy! I really wanted to get an original for this one. But there’s no where to get it D:!

So long as I can play it! But that Valkyrie game worries me. What if I’m not in Kuching when it’s out and Kujong is out of reach?? *screams insanities* I will find a way. A true fan will always find a way. I don’t have to play it immediately. I could just buy it and play it at the appropriate time. Yes, I will do that. There. Settled.

Errr Tears of Blood and Tales of Destiny 2 are just halfway done now hehehe. And I finally have Phantom Brave but I haven’t played it. Aah~ laziness…

One piece had two new chapters up and I just grabbed them tonight. Fun fun. ^_^

Seems like tomorrow I’ll be spending half of my day at the other side of the bridge. I wonder how that will be…hmmm

Anyway, time for bed. Ta’ra!

Food and eating out

Thursday, May 11th, 2006

Haaa~ a warm glass of milk after your daily crunches is so nice :D. I got this milk idea from that site I posted a few days back. You know, the recipe to flat abs in 3 days. It says to drink warm milk with honey before bed. That’s just what I’m doing. What I do is pour milk in a glass to measure out how much I need. Since I’m not using milk powder, I have to heat the milk. Then I pour the milk into a bowl and microwave it. Microwave is a heating wonder. It’s a great way to heat stuff that’s already liquid. Because microwave activates the hidrogen molecules in food to heat them. That’s why it’s not good for baking and for pizza and bread. Sure, pizza gets heated, but once it cools down, it turns to rocks. :/

Anyway, I leave the milk to microwave for two minutes so it gets super hot. One minute if I want it just warm. But my room is air conditioned so I want it to stay warm for as long as possible. After that, I added a spoon of honey. Yes, honey. Just a spoon though. Too much then it’s too sweet. I’ve always liked milk with honey. Magnolia used to make them into little bottles along with flavours like strawberries and chocolates. But for some reason, they are no longer around D:!

But honey milk warm is just so nice. I also heard milk promotes sleep that’s why you often see babies easily go to sleep. It’s the milk.

Tomorrow is a public holiday and I just found out today! I think I have been tricked into believing tomorrow is not a public holiday. But I have marked that down in my calendar and I forgot! I really should check my planner more often :/.

I have a few plans for tomorrow. Among my plans are to do some homework, go to the circus, go to the gym or jog at the library (I think the gym is likely-er), declutter my room, watch some movies, continue my stories and study some accounting.

That’s quite a lot huh? Before I make any selection I have to do some confirmation though. The circus won’t be around after Sunday so I have to make some quick decisions. Also, it doens’t help the fact that I don’t think the tickets are available on the spot. So phone calls are required. Fortunately, I am long over my fear of calling strangers. And besides, I have a group discussion on Saturday morning so I might not make it to my morning jog or the gym. But man, travelling takes so much fuel. I hate thinking about how much has the meter moved since I left home. :|

Eating out. Now that’s a topic I would really love to talk about. Lately, eating out is a norm for me. I eat out four days a week. That is pretty unavoidable. It’s either you eat out or starve. No compromise :/. The only weekday I don’t eat out is Wednesday because I have only one morning class then I’m off to the gym. When I come back, I eat at home.

Also, eating at the Swinburne cafe is still eating out. But the food there sucks. Wekk! (someone promised to show me karipap pusin-pusin there :P)

There’s usually several places I go to when eating out for lunch. There’s J&J, Simply Sedap, Chillipeppers and recently, Jojo Cafe. There are also the fast food variety which are conviniently nearby; McD, KFC, and Pizza Hut. But you only go to these places once every few weeks or if you’re just tired of rice. The thing with eating at a restaurant is, you feel kind of ‘weak’ and ‘dependent’ to the restaurant and its standards. I mean, you’re not in control of how good the food is, how much beef they put in your rice or how much they charge you for juice that’s half filled with ice. Sometimes, even if you make just a little change in your order, they charge you with full price or double the price which is unfair. Usually you just put up with it because you’re hungry and doesn’t have a lot of time. You only realized that you are paying for more than you should after you have eaten and are at the counter paying the bills. Only then do you start complaining about the bad food or services.

Like I said, it’s pretty unfair.

But all the places I listed above are pretty good. I have little complaints about them. If people ask me if I would reccomend these places, I would say yes. But just to see how good the service is at these places, try buying prawns. And ask if they could peel it for you. After that you should be able to judge their response by yourself.

Eating out is also expensive. I try to spend under ten ringgit when eating out. Rice and juice. That’s all. Sometimes when I’m feeling rebellious, I order a side dish of some veges and share with everyone. Sharing is caring hehehe. I feel sorry for those who have to eat out everyday especially when they live abroad in a hostel or something. Imagine having to spend averagely ten ringgit for one meal. And you have to eat at least three meals a day. That’s 30 ringgit. A month?

900 ringgit.

I have done these calculations before. Because I might be one of those having to eat out everyday due to living abroad. I mean, 900 ringgit a month on food alone? That’s ridiculous. But I guess you don’t really spend 30 ringgit a day on food alone now do you? Perhaps 25 or something. But since most people skip breakfast, that’s down to 20 ringgit. Okay, say you’re really cheap and spends on average 7 ringgit on each meal, and not eating breakfast, it’s around 14 ringgit a day then. So that’s 420 a month. It’s not as bad as 900 a month. But if all that money goes to food, what happens if you don’t have enough money for everything else? What about transportation and entertainment? Will you just result to eating peas till your next payday?

Thinking how much has the cost of living gone up makes me crazy. In the old days, people would frown when the price of rice with ginger beef is 4.50. But these days, that’s considered cheap. But when they are priced cheaply, the food is usually not good. See what I mean?

*sighs* I really envy those who live near Swinburne *shakes fist at Totchi*. They can easily go back during break time. Although I am looking forward to finishing my foundation in Swinburne and moving on to another university, I am not looking forward to all the eating out. There’s only so much a person can take.

Maybe I should just go to sleep now. But w00t! Someone I havent seen in a long time is on yahoo! Woo-hoo!

Ta’ra!

Damn that Tessa Alvarado! She’s so fakking hot! I am a big fan of Queen of Swords. When the series were aired on AXN some years back, I watched it religiously. But I missed a few episodes. But no big, really. I’m catching up. Just don’t seem to remember watching it. Some fan I am. Hehehehe

Pretty uneventful lately. Nothing much to report. Man I’m tired. Good night.

Lalalalala~!

Afternoon! Ive come across some very interesting articles on getting those fab abs lately. The recipes tempt me. I know, I know, I have no talent for cooking but what’s the harm in trying, right? :D

Check this out if you wanna try getting flat abs in three days. It wont work long term but you can still try anyway.

Moving on, I went out jogging yesterday morning at the state library. It’s been a while since I jog outdoors. The last one being the marathon. Its amazing really. This time I managed to complete a whole lap around the lake starting from the hilly small roundabout. Before, I’ll be panting halfway. But it’s good hehehe. I think Im gonna be jogging there again as a kind of ‘field test’ to see how well I’ve done in the gym.

After all, that bet is still on-going.

Oh, lemme share with you my marathon certificate. It’s pretty awesome.Certy

I told you it was awesome hehehe. When I showed this around in class people went ‘woah!’ and someone even took a pic of it hahaha! You know who you are heh. You guys may recognize Lucifiel as my dedicated MSN messenger name.

About that jogging out thing, I’ve had two requests yesterday from people wanting to go jog with me. Is it jogging season? Like way back in the 70s when jogging suddenly became popular. That’s also the same time the walkman came about.

Yesterday I was out almost the whole day. After I return from my morning jog my mom took me to Serikin, around the border. I went just for the sake of going.

*random thought: my leg is falling asleep, damn!*

Besides, my mom said the place will be closing down soon so might as well give it a checking out. So I did. Here’s some shots. Its basically a shopping street that just stretches on and on. They sold loads of stuff there. Mostly from Indonesia. I even saw shoe bags and Serikin-made FILA shoes. Seri Seri1 Seri3Its a good place for a bargain, really. But I didn’t find anything iIndiansnteresting to buy. Besides, I wasn’t even planning to buy anything anyway. And lookie, Indians! We have Indians in Borneo! w00tShoe! Shoes FilaWeird stuff. The only thing I bought from there was a half KG of tapioca chips. The free samples tempted me. And it was a long drive back. :D

After we came back from Serikin I still have my Mandarin class. My Advance class starts yesterday and so I went. Lao Shi gave homeworks D:!

Lemme share you last night’s dinner. It was spaghetti! Spaghet Looks good doesn’t it? I don’t like the flat pastas though. Looks like kuay tiaw. Unfortunately, my mom likes to experiment :|.

Woah! What am I doing still in my gym clothes?! I have to shower! So like, ta’ra!

p/s I typed the name on the cert myself. It was an empty certificate so unfortunately no cool things like ‘you can choose what name you want in the certificate’. Literally yes, though. But that’s because you can type up anything hehehe. But still, it’s pretty cool huh? hehehe.

p/s/s My friend is here! Whee! Now we can go out and wreck havoc!! YEAH!

Hard Selling at its best!

Friday, May 5th, 2006

Some of you guys might be familiar with the marketing term ‘hard selling’. It is a product-oriented marketing strategy where the seller focuses only on the product instead of the needs of the customers. Think of hard sellers as those people begging you to buy stuff at flea markets. Yeah, annoying aren’t they?

But not when hard selling works for you! Mehehehehehe. Today was the Swinburne Sales Day. We open up booths to sell whatever stuff we want. My sis opened one and sold stuff most from herself, my yougner sis and myself! Ours was the booth with the most variety of stuff. We had perfumes, scarves, bags, books and a couple of beach skirts/pants. My Pak Lat’s cartoon books were the first to go! the one who reserved it was a girl opening a booth behind my sis. Actually, at the start of the sales, quite a few stuff were reserved. Wow!

Our hard seller was Intan! Look at her! Hard at work!Booth_3Intan2_1   Intan_1 Hahaha! See how she’s promoting the scarves to guys? Well surprisingly, out of the ten scarves sold, eight were bought by guys! Only two were bought by girls and they don’t wear scarves regularly. Amazing! But of course, we sold more than ten scarves hehehe. Imagine this, my sis had three hangers full of them before the sale. When we’re done we have only about half of one hanger left! Hehehehe!

The bags were all sold! We thought we’d have problems with some of the latter bags but then, some Swinburne cleaners came in and started looking at our stuff. They bought our leftover bags. After all, most of them were new. A Nike for 12! We must have been desperate or something. 2 out of 3 of my perfumes were sold. Most of the perfumes sold were my younger sis’s. So she got most of the money. Since we overpriced some of the stuff, we put up signs at the table saying prices are negotiable. But really, some people are such a cheapskate (like me)! I ‘negotiated’ of what would be a 15 ringgit purchase for 11 from the booth next door. Hehehehe. But we’re good people heh. We are especially happy if you buy four perfumes from us, like this one librarian hehehe. Oh, and we offer free cookies to customers! Aren’t we nice??

The books sell too, but not as good as the bags. We still have a lot of books left after the sale, so we donated them all to the library. I’m actually growing fond of the empty spaces in my bookshelf! Mwahahah!

In the end, we got lots of um…revenue. I mean, we didn’t have any capital. We just have…stuff. But we ended up with more cash in hand than on papers. After calculating how much each person got (based on their items sold), we still have some phantom money. Then we decided to stop thinking who owns what part of the phantom money and decided we would use it to treat those people who helped us during the sales. They worked hard. Not just looking after the booth, but also help make sales (especially our hard working hard seller!). And they make interesting covnersation partners. Thanks a lot guys! I mean girls!

Wooo fun day is sales day! Can’t wait for next year.

Ta’ra!

Isn’t it weird that I forgot to blog? I think it is. In fact, these past few days have been weird for me. I don’t like to be blur. But concentrating is so hard :{…

My last two gym sessions have been insufficient somehow. What a waste too. Sunday was a disaster and Monday was a bit better but it was still wasted somehow. Anyway, tomorrow is another gym day. So it must go better. Why? Because I have money betting on this.

Its time to finish this once and for all. It sucks when you’re ‘nearly there’ but not ‘there’ yet. Anyway, my current condition is bad for me on the road :/.

Let me share you this though. It has become an essential desk decoration for me somehow hehehe.

FrameWhen I’m in class, that is. It just didn’t want to get out of my bag :D. This is a pretty nifty little thing. It was actually a custom made birthday card but doubles as a picture frame. Someone emulated my Kaoru Chinese New Year card and I must admit, she kinda beat me to it :P. I must do better! Damn ye printer!

The pic I supposed was taken during the filming of the Moon Child starring Hyde (My Hyde chan!!) and Gackt (ugh…). It’s a stupid movie I was told. Don’t watch it. Hyde’s all blond in it. But Hyde is also blond in my display pic! Mehehehe. I don’t really care. Hyde looks good whatever he puts on. Even if he’s not putting on anything.

O.o hmmmm…

Oh yeah, Lee Hom’s in there too.

Whooo Backstreet Boys! Backstreet’s back alright!! I just transfered the whole of their Chapter One Greatest Hits CD onto Katan (my phone :D). I miss them Backstreet Boys. But what I would really want to have are tracks from 911’s album The Journey if anyone remembered that O.o. It was a hit way back in the 90’s. 1997 I think. The same time L’arc en ciel and Dir en Grey became a hit in Japan. But really, with all these boys bands (BSB, 911, ‘N sync, Code Red) emerging at the same time, who really have time for Japanese wannabes anyway? Oh, Japanese wannabes…that’s so mean hahah~!

But during those times who bothers with CDs anyway? Everything is in cassettes. My old 911 cassette was ruined together with my old walkman. Damn…I really loved that album. If anyone has that album on CD, I WANT IT!

Okay, that was desperate.

I made a lot of progress regarding that story I’ve been working on. The one I’m gonna post on my website. I’m also gonna post up my fairy tales parodies. Or remakes. I’ve only done the Frog Prince remake halfway.

Time for bed. Ta’ra!
