Stress Is Good

Monday, August 29th, 2005

Seems like I saved the best for last. I completed two speeches yesterday and the last speech I’m doing (still doing the ending now) is titled "Stress IS Good". Surely something I relate to often. Since I am under some stress :D. I procrastinated and pushed off all the stuff I need to do to tonight. Cant really blame me I was sick.

So. Stress is good? Don’t hear that everyday. Apparently its good for procrastinators even though procrastinators eventually burn themselves out. (I’m still a bit of a procrastinator now, but not a chronic one) Stress is as good as a life-threatening danger. I likey.

***gap of time, mostly spent to eat, do speech and drawing***

Whee! I just finished doing all three speeches. And finalized them. The lenght is around 5-6 mins each. 6 mins max though. I do hope I get the topic ‘the greatest job’. I even prayed to God for it! If I’m lucky (or have enough faith). I promise to fast a day if I get that topic! O_O Apparently that’s the topic I’m good at the most. Reasons should be obvious.

So now I’m studying math. The lecturer said she’s going to ask for definitions too. I usually suck at math. But who would have thought that I could sink in TWO add maths topic in ONE session! That lecturer is damn good I tell you. She can teach you the arithmetic sequence and the geometric sequence in ONE two-hour class! And guess what? With minimal problems! I actually GET it! She has some super powers she does. Imagine learning all three laws of logarithms in one class. Or perhaps I was just paying attention?

Creepy.

Anyway, I’d better get back to studying. Did you see that? I’m studying!

Ta’ra!

Time To start Work!

Sunday, August 28th, 2005

I was hoping for the fever to go away yesterday, but it didn’t. But at least it didn’t get much worse. However, the cough did get worse. Tolerable, but not pleasant. And cough drop, is still unpleasant too. I thought I would grow out of it, but no matter at what age you are, they are still unpleasant. Bleerg. Usually, you would drink water as soon as you take your medicine, but not with cough drop. Drinking water as soon as you swallow the damn thing would defeat the whole purpose since water immediately dilutes the medicine. My daddyo told me this when he gave me the meds last night "Let’s it go slowly down your throat"

I don’t mind going down the throat thing, but the after taste in your mouth is terrible. D:

But I’m feeling better today! No more fever, just the cough. And I’m out of cough drop! I took the last portion last night! >.<

My fever was at the worst yesterday when I went to the market to get textiles and stuff for Eid. Rubbing shoulders with fellow commoners have never been so fun! *snickers* hehehehe. Couldn’t help but put that line in, really. But maybe going out and walking and do all that stuff actually helped me get better. Hmmmm. I heard somewhere that when you’re sick, its best if you keep moving instead of just lying down, resting. The activity helps your body. Its probably the same way that when injected by poison, you’re told to keep still and move little to avoid the spread of poison. So when you’re sick, try to move as much as possible?

Uhhh….but sweating is good for fever. That much I know, at least.

Now that I’m well. Or better, I should get to doing that three public speaking speeches now. I totally wasted my time looking for relieves yesterday. I watched this new anime I just downloaded and read comics. And draw stuff. When my drawing gets really good, it means my study is suffering somewhere. A good indication, aye. I should like, try to scan some and put them up here. Although they are mostly down by pencil. They wouldnt look too clear. But its enough to see the outline though.

Yeah I might just do that. They are all on lined paper. Doesn’t really matter, right? Anyway, I’d better start doing those things now. Later!

Missed Opportunities….denial, denial, denial.

Friday, August 26th, 2005

I’ll make a quick rundown of the week. Last Saturday I was supposed to go to a Rotaract Club Gathering with my friend. We have agreed to meet at Swinburne since she said she was going to the library anyway. BUT! When I was about to leave, I messaged her and she said she had some problems and cant go. So am I supposed to go alone? Later, another friend said I should have gone anyway. I would probably meet somebody I know. But I’m a bit of a wimp that day and didn’t go altogether. So I called up my good old Gemini friend and asked him to accompany me. Well, he was cool with it, but I had to wait 15 mins later coz he had to shower first (it was 2 pm damnit!).

So we went to Swinburne together. Well, not to go to the gathering, I just had to do some errands for my friend whos staying in the hostel. Then we went to Tun Jugah and had lunch.

Thats one missed opportunity to go meet new people.

Throughout the week I bantered back and forth whether or not to go to the Freshman Party dubbed "fisherman party" at the end of the week. Finally, Ezra convinced me (and it was the last day for the sale of the tickets too!). Most people don’t want to go because it is going to be a very hectic weekend what with Word Practical assessment, math test and public speaking happening next week and on the day of the party, we have a Reading test. *sighs*

But I suddenly caught a fever. Slight one, but totally took the energy out of my legs. Until the last minute, I bantered again, this time with my sis (since I got the fever very late in the day) about going or not. She said its "good" if I go, but if I dont feel fine maybe I just dont go. I suggested that maybe I should go but come back early. Take a few snaps here and there and run back home.(Not literally~!) I think I got the fever during our Reading test. The lecture hall was cold and I didnt bring a jacket, although I was wearing double layered clothing. *sighs* I wont deny the possibility of catching it from the guy beside me. He was twitching his nose throughout the test. He probably had a flu, and ZAW! Zaw sneezed at me! (I was sandwiched between TWO sick people!) Well, not directly. There was only a table dividing us and he sneezed in that direction - at MY direction! GAAAAAHHH!!!!

I know Zaw is holding that party tonight, yes, on the same night of the Freshman Party. But don’t give your germs to me damnit!

Now I missed the gathering AND the party! *cries!*

*mutters mutters*

BUT! Our Oral subject lecturer, Miss Ida, said they are looking for volunteers to help the students over at the Intensive English class. We’ll be talking to them in English about any topic, over coffee and such. Well, I signed up (gave her my name, contact number and the hours that Im free, although now I have to change that a bit). The students are mostly international students. I guess its also a good chance to meet people. Funny though. When I told Winnie Im going to volunteer, she said ‘thats great! then you can have the biscuits" LOL. Well, probably, but I’m not that into biscuits and Im a tea drinker too.

Well, its not exactly community service, but its fun. :]

I can’t stand stress sometimes although I can handle it better than most. On Tuesday next week, we’re going to have our math test in the morning, Word Practical in the afternoon and public speaking afterwards. Thats THREE assesment in one day! The only plus side is that the next day is public holiday.

Then suddenly I heard Ezra said there’s only 5 people in IT Tute D on Friday afternoon. Tute D is an additional tute because the original 3 tutes were full. We seem to be getting new students every week. One girl in my class wanted to stay in Tute B, where Im currently in, but the lecturer did a purging and only wanted 26 people. Including her its 27. She didnt know about the purging because she skipped that class (the purging). When I think about it, I might benefit from attending the Friday tute. There’s less people and a different tutor! She’s Antionette, a friend of my sis’s and a recent Swinburne graduate. I don’t know how she teaches, but she’s nice, from what I heard. (And pretty too, may I add hehehe) And since she’s also a recent student, she must understand how students feel in a boring lecture, right? (I hope I hope I hope). Well, at least I hope she isn’t half as boring as Victor. That guy just don’t understand when people are not listening! And I don’t want my IT marks suffering. I sit at the back of the class in the computer lab and end up talking to Intan, Ezra and Owen instead of listening to the lecture. Although you cna read up from the lecture notes in the computer. But its not the same! Its all about blessing! Blessing damnit! Berkat~!

So I offered this girl my place in the class while I go take her place in the Friday tute. She didn’t want to leave the Tuesday tute because her friend’s in there. And the only way she can stay is if she can swap with somebody. (as the lecturer said)So she gladly received my offer. And everyone’s happy! :]

Btw, I had just emailed the lecturer today, telling him about our tute swap. His reply read;

"Dear Nor Farah, Thank you for updating me and you will have your practical during tutorial."

Short and simple.I also asked him about the practical thing. Was kinda confused though. So next week I’m only going to have math test and public speaking on Tuesday. :D. I’ll have an extra class on Friday, but its okay though. The IT tute is at 12.30-2.30. Then I have reading and Oral at 3.30-5.30. Rather than having only Reading and Oral on that day. I can also still sleep until 11 on that day :D.But with the removal of IT on Tuesday, I’m going to have a large gap between my math class and Oral. Hmmmm. Ah well. Give and take I say!(and more time to sleep, or practice)

Wait….should I email Miss Ida about my change of class time? Hmmm. Well, when I feel a little better. Tomorrow, maybe. Wait…the admin said there’s going to be a network outage due to maintenance over the weekend. ….Oh well. Its not urgent.

On the other hand, I went to a graduates gathering last Wednesday and met Mr. Foong! (Mr. Foong, you’re the besst!!!!) I even met Annie and Auntie Teo during the gathering where Mr. Foong talked about using support and resistance at trading. Technical trading terms, don’t worry about it. But it was great! And we discussed a lot. He even gave us some trades that we can do right away! He’s so great!!! And Miss Sheila and Miss Bernie were also looking great! *floats dreamily* Maybe I should have broguht my digicam along. But it matters not. The point is that now I am more objective in my trades and hopefully starts making money. (seems we only lose money in our virtual trading! lol) Well of course, virtual money, but better than nothing, right? I’m so lazy to look at charts sometimes, But I’ll start doing that more often. You guys can prolly expect me to ramble about my trading soon hehehehe.

Gaaaaah. I feel electric jolts running down my arms and legs. Thats fever for you! After I brush my teeth, I’m going to bed! Hopefully I’ll recover tomorrow. I always have slight fevers that disappears overnight. And besides, we’re going textile shopping tomorrow. Wouldnt want to miss that!

Shopping = good

Another long post after a long absence. And about those missed opportunities, I let them serve as stepping stones for better opportunities in the future. Hopefully my voluntary work with the Intensive English class will make up for it. But, an opportunity missed does not neccessarily mean an opportunity wasted. They serve as reminders for you. Never miss a good opportunity I say!

Anyway, ta’ra!

P/S, Ida, Lan is funny. He asked my number from you right? And he did call me just now. Just to say whats up though. His cousin’s house having a ‘makan selamat’ after moving in months ago! Now that’s weird. Well its better than nothing I guess. Nice of him to call though hehehe. So nice to be remembered, aye :].

P/S/S Lan is still using his old number. You guys still argue over the phone? Hahaha. Just kidding.

****Condolences to Pak Haji Panda (from lack of knowing his real name) who passed away some time the week before. Innalillahhi inna lillahi rajiun….**** We went to China together. And he’s a very nice ol chap. He even tricked me once! lol. He’s cool. I just hope I could have known about it earlier though. God bless his soul.

Double Taurus??

Sunday, August 21st, 2005

I was reading this astrology book for Taurus 2006. It has daily, weekly and yearly predictions for Taurus and stuff. I dont care about the predictions. I just want to know about the base personailities. Says here that if you were born at the cusp, or the edge of the zodiac sign, theres a big possibility that you carry the personalities of the zodiac sign before you.

So Taurus starts on April 21st and my birthday is the 22nd. Depending on my time of birth, which I think is between 5-6 am, my ascending sign or rising sign is either Aries or Taurus. Which means I could either be a Aries-Taurus or Taurus-Taurus.

Hmmmm….

Weird huh? Your ascending sign modifies your basic personality. But I really like the description of the sign Taurus. Taurus is wealth. In a netshell. Lookie here:

"Taurus is wealth. It is not just money, property and the richness of material possessions, but also the wealth of the spirit.Taurus rules everything in the visible world we see, touch, hear, smell, taste - the Earth, sea and sky - anything we normally consider "real". Its is the sign of economy and reserve, for it is a blend of thrift, luxury, generosity and practicality." In short.

So if Im a double Taurus, this means I’m going to have Wealthx2 too, right? *big cheeky grin* that coincidentally sounds a lot like me eh? hehehe. Of course, its impossible to all Taurus to have the same personality. We are influenced by background, compassion and situations, among other things. But most of the time, you can evaluate one’s personality by their Zodiac sign. Unconsiously, 20% of their personality were taken from their star sign and you will see similarities between people of the same sign. Not everyone will believe me. But it works for me and my friend. You learn a lot just by asking their birthdate. Zodiac alone is not enough without the birthdate. Because there are only 12 zodiac signs. You dont expect only 12 different personalities in this world, did you?? Besides, Astrologists dismiss those daily predictions in the newspaper as crap anyway.

The more I think about it, the more I behave like a Taurus. Or a double Taurus. Hmmmm. Furthermore, Taurus is an Earth elemental sign (Capricorn and Virgo too). That makes us more "materialistic" and practical since we are very in touch with the material world. Im a highly practical person. Pretty things dont matter to me if its just another dust holder. And Taurus fell in the Fixed Quality group along with Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. Here’s a brief description. "The Fixed signs are always establishing themselves in a given place or area of expertise. Like explorers who arrive and plant a flag, these people claim a position in which they do not enjoy being deposed." The other two quality are Cardinal (dynamism, activity, tremendous stress (?), and remarkable achievement) and Mutable Sign (versatile, sensitive, intelligent, nervous and deeply curious about life). Fixed Signs sit between them.

I can’t believe I’m saying this. But I’m a real Taurus. A true Taurus. Of course, predictions are not my interest. I just like the base personalities thing. They are accurate 50% of the time. And besides, God said not to predict. I said it before, I’ll say it again. We decide our own future and outcomes. We do have things called choices you know. Make your own choices and decide your future. Don’t let predictions drive you to your destination. Its…not good. Don’t do it.

Now I wanna go finalize my IT assignment and homework. And do some math too. Our test was postponed to next week so that’s a relief. By the way, we got our result for econs quiz. Whew. Im only 0.4 points away from getting a full 10%! But anyway, satisfaction for now. *grins*. You have to leave some margin for error to grow from. :D.

Well, ta’ra!

Food For Thought

Friday, August 19th, 2005

Dinner_2 Dinner was mash potatoe with white mushrom sauce. Yeah we do eat things other than rice sometimes. This is a new recipe my mom got from my aunt. Remember that recipe I mentioned before? Yea its this one. We’re still in the trial and error process. No need to rush. Theres other recipes to try hehehe. The mash potates had bits of cheese in and on top of it. Yum yum.

Speaking of food, its been a while since I last made cookies and biscuits. Hmmmm. My chocolate cookies have improved vastly. And I had to make two batch of them each time or its not enough. Maybe I should add more flour eh? And maybe use chocolate chips instead of cooking chocolate bars. Heck - I just followed the recipes down to the letter hehehe. I dont really have time to make cookies now, except on he weekend if I really commit myself to it. Its really fun offering people cookies you made yourself. ^_~ So long as they are not burned hehehe.

But for raya (eid)? Uhhhh…

Well I can make cheese biscuits (pending they are not finished by the residents of the house before then). And Im damn proud of my baking!

I should get into that assignment now. Nothing hard. Just soemthing I’m used to doing. :D Oh and the Rotaract Club gathering is tomorrow! Time to Flash my digicam around~

Ta’ra!

Expanding my comfort Zone

Thursday, August 18th, 2005

I’m considering of whether or not to go to the Freshmen Party on um…when was it? *checks* I dont know. Friday next week I think. It starts at 6:30 and they SAY its compulsary to all new students of July and August intake (thats me btw). But with such ‘convinient’ timing I probably wouldnt make it for the Maghrib (dusk) prayers since its between 7-8 pm. And lots of my friend said they are not going because the time is too near the end of our Reading test.

What do I think? To be really honest, I want to go. Not because the student council promises its ‘going to be lots of fun’ and ‘you’re entitled to win cash prizes and stuff for best dress’, etocetera etocetera (Taishi’s line in Comic Party hehe) and its a good opportunity to get to know new people and bond with people you already know. I mean come ooonn~, the Student Council people said this is going to be our last freshmen event! We’re lucky enough to have a PARTY, not a RAGGING! Like in those public unis. The tickets are only 6 ringgit. Thats even less than a movie ticket.

But but but! (no extra ‘t’ in here okay!)

Why isnt any of my friends going!? D’: I know I’ kinda whiney and needs to have a friend to come with me. But this one I admit it! I need a friend from my class to go with me! Just this event! Just this! puhleeeeeease! *cries*

Even if noone wants to go with me…that’s okay *sniff sniff* Its no loss I dont go anyway *sniff*

Those Rotaract people also emailed me about a club gathering this weekend. That one I’ll definitely go. Drag my friend if I have to! A good opportunity to flash my digicam around ^_~

On another note, Im considering taking up peer tutoring for the subject math. The peer tutoring is when you are being taught in small groups by seniors who are good in the subject. But for a minimal fee (those seniors need to make money too). I could surely use the extra help in math (and IT too). Since most people I ask dont want to sign up for the tutoring. They say we can just study among ourselves. But when I ask when to study, they keep coming up with stuff like ‘Im busy/away this weekend’ and when I suggest a time its the same thing. So much for studying together.

So I signed up. Well, I asked my friend to put down my name tomorrow. If all goes well and the time for the tutoring doesnt clash with my timetable, I’ll proceed. Also its a good chance to meet new people or get to know the existing ones better.

I just did something very satisfying. I just sent a harsh and insulting reply to a message from my stupid neighbour who thinks he’s a hit with the girls. Sheez, talk about retarded!

Now, on to some random wisdom.

I forgot!

Gaaaah stupid retarded f***ing retarded retard retarded I forgot what I was going to say! I notice the abuse of the word retard. Its intentional. I hope you realize that you’re just a retarded attention seeker and I send my condolences beforehand to your future girlfriend (whoever the unfortunate woman may be).

That’s it. I wanna go cheer myself up. Later.

Remember, if you want to move forward, you must move out of your comfort zone. Expand.

Digicam Attack! Among other things as usual.

Wednesday, August 17th, 2005

YummehIts been a while since my previous post. I talked about having a quiz right? But that quiz is over with. There’s new commitments to make. The quiz went alright though. Without bragging, I’ll say its easy. The lecturer already told us *specifically* on what to expect. I hope to get good marks for this one. That quiz account for 15% of our overall mark. (I want my HD!)

So here’s a few pics I took today. I’ve been flashing my digicam around Swinburne for the past couple of days now. Doing a friend of mine a favor (you know who you are :P) This is the pic I took during lunch today at a restaurant across the road from Swinburne. The food is okay if you are hungry. But the laksa sarawak isnt that good. Rated a BIG OK. Its not bad, its not good either. Ezra_n_owen We must have been quite a sight together too. Ah well, we’re just a bunch of international citizens going for lunch. Hehehehe.

Hmmm now that I think about it, Im quite lagged in my homework. I have to do math tonight. Gah! add maths all over again. But its a mix of add maths and modern maths and finally, maths make sense to me! (With all that strange symbols called numbers) And our math subject is tailored to suit our business course. SO whatever we learn will (might) be relevant to our course!

Anyway, seems like your class is a lot of fun Omar. Kelas Bahagia ("Happy" Class) indeed. And I want that macaroni. The last thing that I’m craving (and still craving now) is the mash potatoe my aunt made for my grandmother’s birfday. It was yum yum with white mushroom sauce. My mom got hold of the recipe for me! YAY!

On another note, friendster is stupid. It says I’ve uploaded 27 pictures even though I actually uploaded less than that. True I have ‘uploaded’ 27 pics. Literally. But I deleted them afterwards because the setting got messed up. But friendster still considers it as twenty f***ing seven! *steam out of nose effect here*

So Omar, president eh? You didn’t wait long to take over the school. At least one of us managed to keep low-profile (for now *snickers*) I think I may have forgotten about my initial ‘intentions’ when starting uni. One of them was to get to know as many new people as possible. And one of the ways I had thought of is through club activites (Where the real interactions take place). But now I seem to be avoiding the seniors (they run the clubs after all). But, like Robert Kiyosaki says, if you want to improve/advance/go forward, you must move out of (or expand)your comfort zone.

I’ve been doing a lot of that lately and I’m still alive right? Sure, they dont bite. Tomorrow I have a straight five hour of math tutorial and IT lecture. There’s going to be a lot of people in IT because we’re combined with the kids over in engineering for that one. (And remind me to sit on the left side of the hall, far away from where the engineering guys mostly sat) I cant stand the smell of cigarettes after the break when a lot of them goes out to have a smoke. Uuugh. Yeah if you want to die early, die alone damnit! Dont drag other people with you. Feh.

I took a nap today. From 3.30 to 6 pm(unrelated to opening hours of some dubious nightclubs). Refreshing *grins*. Tomorrow’s ‘marathon’ starts at 11 so I can sleep later to do homework. Also, before I go (I need a shower. I smell :D) check out this pic of Owen. Hilarity. Skary_look

Well, ta’ra!

p/s I changed the name of this blog a bit. The previous name somehow didnt sound quite right.

Haruka, Kimi No Moto He.

Sunday, August 14th, 2005

YAAAAAAAAY!!!! I FINALLY HAVE IT! I FINALLY HAVE THAT SONG!!!!What song? The opening theme of the anime Harukanaru Toki No Naka De - Haruka, Kimi No Moto He. What frustrates me is that I couldnt google it. I found a few sites that offer it without registration and for free, but they just dont work! Its thanks to Mr.Leaf and his leaves that I got it! Thank you Mr.Leaf and your leaves! :D

Its been on repeat every since I got it! I LOVE THIS SONG! >.<!

Oh yeah I have economics quiz tomorrow. Good luck to me! :D Well I surely cant sleep because I was up MSN-ing till 3 last night. And thanks to a sudden blackout, my last night’s post was deleted wholly before I could save it! Grrr

Anyway, time to go do that thing I must do. SO, later!

Oh, wait, I just saw it! My post was saved lol! Its the post down below hahahaa.

Wordless

4I achieved another accomplishment today. I found out that if you click on a pic on this blog, a separate window will open for a larger pic, or the orgininal size of the pic!Sheez! If I had known about it earlier I wouldnt bother putting such a heck of a long pic on display. *mutters mutters*

Now what shall I ramble about today?Oh yeah, I didn’t actually went and do that draft last night hehehe. But I was doing it tonight. Didn’t put down much though. Hmmm nothing much to do tonight. I started redownloading Meine Leibe tonight. I had to redownlaod all ten eps. Even if I wont watch them until I got the 13th ep. Which isnt ready yet. I accidentally deleted them all when I deleted one of my major folders. Painful. Long story.

Omar, update your blog damnit I’m bored.

Anyway this shall be a short post I guess. Have nothing else to say. Later.

Go do that draft!

Thursday, August 11th, 2005

BucketyLookie here! My bucket of M&Ms and a Gee Gee snack hehehe. One of the most appealing features of my room! (Actually, every feature of my room is appealing. To me, that is *grins*) I’ve been craving that Gee Gee for a long time! They are hard to come by unless you frequently patron the roadside stalls. Like in this case. Let me tell you a little story about this snack.

Actually, I always see this sold by the roadside vendor accross the road from the new temple behind Medan Pelita. I used to like this a lot when I was a kid and miss it very much :D. The old Chinese couple always sell food and snacks to passerbys there. And since their stall is very near to the road, I can clearly see a big plastic bag of those GG’s! There’s no place to park a car nearby and the only way to reach it is by walking a distance from somewhere you park it. Either that or you stop the car and someone else goes buy it. In which, is the case for this one. My sis bought them for me :D Yay to that! SHe with the help of her honey bee :P.

Thanks anyway hehehe. I’m down to my last pack though, so buy more for me okay? Hehehehe.

I’m feeling so liberated today. We submitted our heck of a long and hard IT homework today! It was a relief after a long night of figuring out the answers. I slept at 4 but I only have class in the afternoon. But I know someone else who didn’t sleep at all and have class that morning until 5:30! (Jia Lin, you’re kerazy. Make sure you get sleep tonight! :P) But thankfully, a lot of people were willing to share answers when I got to uni hehehe. Cooperation is good, aye?

I could have probably finished the homework my own last night without having to copy answers from others but we have to go over to my gradnmother’s to welcome the newly-weds; my cousin and his wife! I’m glad I went though. Later that night I was hanging out with these people for a while.Skary_pic_3 Kak_im_1 Kak_dila_1

Yeah, they just lit up and smile when they saw me lifting my digicam. :P

I’m thinking of continuing my draft for Tenshi Kakumei, the story of angels I’ve been working on. I got some ideas. Just wanna jot them down before I lose the momentum. :D. Its about time I spend time on myself too. Hmmmm. I’ve probably been too busy concentrating on that HD I forgot to take time out and even feel guilty about it!

But no more! I shall take my time out now! Our next prensentation is a group thing and our first IT assignment is a group project too so yay! Time to go freshen up and do that thing I wanna do. So, later everyone! Ba bai!
