Harry Potter finally!

Saturday, July 30th, 2005

I just got my copy of the latest Harry Potter book two nights before. And just finished it today. I’m not in any real rush. The book can grip you, I admit that and its a task resisiting the urge to stop reading. But I was bored and have nothing to do other than ramble in Swinburne’s discussion board. The book is good, albeit expensive. Mine is the adult version and the price was a whooping RM 99.90! O_O Is the children’s version less expensive? I heard from my friend his is a children’s version and it was 88.80. Or maybe "now its 88.80" He said something like that. I don’t know, I just didn’t want to buy it while it was still "hot" you know, because the price was bubbling, scalding hot even. The book was cool on itself. It came with its own paper shopping bag with the picture of the cover of the kid’s version. Nice really. Just don’t know what to do with it. I don’t think I want to part with it, but its not a nice thought to keep it there colelcting dust either. I have too much paper bags already.

I’ll just keep it there for a while longer before I stow it away. So, what do I think about the book? Heck - it was great! I won’t spoil anything and mention anything about the plot. You should read it. I even postponed reading the latest Artemis Fowl for this. I’ve had that Artemis Fowl book since before I start Swinburne hehehe. The story is more revealing that before. When I read the previous HP book, I was just poring through the pages, eager to get to the end when "all is revealed". Harry has quite a sense of humor too. Since he’s well, quite the ripe teenager in this one. All in all, you get more clarification in here and there’s no "gripping" mystery other than the prince’s identity that’s to be revealed in the end. Harry pretty much figure everything out himself. I’d say the ending brings MUCH momentum for the final installment of the book. A fitting ending, I’d say, but many would contradict it. *shrugs* what care I?

Okay, before I say too much about Harry Potter’s plot, I’d better stop. So, if you’re a fan of this guy, read it. And if you havent read it, don’t go rushing off to the stores to buy it unless you’re REALLY itching to read it. I would advice you to wait a while longer. At leats until the price drops for the sake of ownership pride. Or you can borrow it from your friends. Honestly, I don’t see the point of pre-ordering the book, then lining up from 5am to get your copy, and paying the most expensive price for the book! The book is most expensive when its out. It will take a while before they lower the price and wait till the hysteria dies down.

Seriously, when I first saw the 3rd HP book some time in 1998, I didn’t think much of it. It was my cousin’s who had a taste for such things. (for some reason, most of the books he bought later became best sellers!) I borrowed the 3rd book from him out of boredom really, then intrigued in reading the first two. I read in the order of 3-2-1-4. I’m not sure if I read 1 or 4 first though. I think 1 first. And as you all know, the fourth book was very, very thick, like a giant dictionary. What a sight I was carrying that book around school! But people still didn’t know about it then. No, no. Not until the first movie was due that people start getting notice. Here, at least, in Malaysia and South East Asia in general. Malaysians are not known as enthusiastic readers. And while I have finished all four books, people around me were scrambling around to get hold of the all the previous books. Talk about late!

And the Potter Mania spreads across the nation.

I read book 2,3 and 4 from my cousin. But after that, I start buying them all for collection’s sake. Funny enough, I never read my own copies of said books. They are mostly borrowed from me. They were read many times. And all not by me hahahaha.

On an unrelated story, my sister came back from a three-day shopping trip in KL yesterday night, bearing gifts! Yes, my bucket of M&Ms now sit on my desk, all bright and yellow. Im not a big fan of M&Ms and had asked for them in those little packs they only sell in bulk at the airport. But she said they were out of that and just bought me the bucket one. Oh well. Its better than nothing, right? Have to keep it out of sight from my baby sister somehow. She’s been nagging to get some. I’m mean so I didn’t conform :P.

You guys don’t mind if I ramble on? Okay. I talked to my friend Weenee the other day about horoscopes. She said she believes them and often check the horoscopes. I said I don’t believe it 100% especially the daily predictions. I decide it myself at the end of the day. And friendster horoscope is totally OUT OF THE QUESTION! So I told her I’m a fan of metaphysics but not a big fan like my other friend. I just use horoscopes as part of my people reading skills. You cant predetermine a person’s behavior without meeting them but you can try and match your findings. Myself, I’m a Taurus but my ascending sign is Aries. Since I was born early in the Taurean month, I still retain several characteristics from Aries. Its more complicated that this, of course, and anyone reading it would find its half true and half not. You can easily relate yourself to descriptions of other zodiacs too. But people have their own tendency and they dont realize it. I look at the main traits of each zodiac and compare it to the person. Sure enough, they fit. Surprisingly. Though not a whole. Nobody is a 100% Virgo or Leo or Scorpio. EVeryone is a mix of each, but still maintaining their base personality. Freaky huh? It also largely depending on the year you were born, your sex, time of birth and ummm something else. Its just fun. Just dont take it too seriously. God told us not to believe in predictions. Which is true, I wont contradict that. I mean, if a Seer told you you were to become really poor in four days and you believe it, you will really be poor. Say, that you were really going to be poor in four days, but you werent told about, theres no way of knowing. There’s little chance your destiny would conform.

Its all in the mind. Youa re what you believe. If you believe in a pre-determined future, you will definitely be going towards it. If I were to lie to a boy and say in 20 years he’ll be prime minister and he wholly believe it, mind you, he will be. Or if not a PM, close to that. Be that deaf frog and just do what you want regardless of what your "pre-determined destiny" is. You might cant change how you’re going to die, but at least, before that time, do as many deeds as you can, help as many people, die in dignity, and remembered, in memory of the living.

I said some noble stuff. :/. But yeah, thats about it. I still say getting rich is my birthright. Not because someone told me. But because I believe it. Nobody told me that because they have no guarantee about it. No large inheritance to pass down to me. No, its all in my mind. Yes, for now it is. I will it so. I will be a multi-billionaire. You just wait! *evil laugh*

I’m currently talking to an old friend of mine on MSN. Its been a while so Im typing this blog and listening to her story. And what a story it is! Now I must stop. Blab too much already. Must be my longest post yet! See ya then!

TA’RA!~

Its been A while…

Wednesday, July 27th, 2005

Hello! Its been a while since my last update. I thought my connection was down so I didnt go online.  What a nice way to find out huh? I just found it weird that my downloads were doing fine but I cant sign in on msn. Then when I turn on IE, it said it cannot work offline and has to connect. So it connects…

And here I am! LOL! It was so funny! I feel so clumsy lol. Anyway I dont have homework tonight and I feel bored. I actually watched TV! I rarely watch TV. It gives me headache. I watch only the programs I like and I dont like sticking to a regular program. My friend Annie ahs been keeping me informed about trading lately. I so envy her. I placed some trades and lose 2500!! Hahaha.

Its just my second week in Swinburne and our next assessment is next week! I feel it goes by so fast. And my English is slowly getting influence! NOOO!!! I’m struggling to keep my standard of English here. Trying not to speak Manglish or Singlish or that new term…Chinglish. They are basically the same anyway…

Oh I went and  checked out this Puteri Hang Li Po play last Sunday night with my sis and my friend. What do I have to say about it? It will be…WOW! I mean, it was just amazing! Its a musical play and has some romance and some regal stuff. But everything is balanced out. Its very, very nice. I wish the international students in my class could go see it. Pretty much almost half of the play was in Chinese but they display subtitles in the screen in both sides of the stage. Not entirely accurate but it was sufficient I guess. The actors and actresses were excellent. They are REAL actors and actresses and a couple of familiar faces on TV too. Too bad i forgot her name I just remembered Louisa Chong. If its playing in your area, go check it out!!!! For 8 ringgit, you get so much more than you paid for!!! :D.

Also, one thing I notice when I’m studying in Swinburne is…when I say I want to get HD (high distinction 85-100 marks) for all subjects, my peers were like "Woah… so confident huh?" and "That’s hard!"

…Is it really that hard to believe? I mean, outside my school environment, I don’t know how people react to such ambitions. Back in school, we are used to setting high scores. We always aim for As even if we know we can only manage a few. the usual responds I get is "Go for it!" or "Yes you can do it!" cliche, I know, but its the truth. My fellow friends, leave some comemnts about this so people know Im not lying okay :P. I mean come on, I aimed for 9 As for PMR and got only 5. Did it stop me from aiming for 14 As in SPM? No. I mean I only take 5 subjects for foundation. So it shouldn’t be that hard, right? The lecturers are there to help you, so use it to you advantage! I know I plan to hehehe. I even heard people saying "I’m gonna fail this subject, I think." I know who you are :P. I can’t believe I’m hearing such demotivating things so early in the semester! Looks like I’m gonna have to bring my trumpet and blow some energy into these people.

Of course A is better B and a HD is better than just a D (distinction)right? I’m bad at math, but I won’t say I’m going to fail it. I won’t even say I’ll aim for any lower than HD. I’m shooting for the moon man, and I’m gonna hit it! You won’t be seeing me among the stars. Even if I did fall among the stars, I won’t be staying there. I’ll be on my journey to the moon. :P. And nothing’s gonna stop me. Not situations, not circumstances, not excuses. The only thing that’s going to stop me is myself. I’ve held on this drive for so long. I’m not going to let go now. Ooooh yeah, I’m so going to be there :P. Mark my words.

Yeah I know what some of you are thinking. "What about SPM? Didn’t you aim to fail your science subjects?" Yeah I did. that’s because there was ridiculously too many subjects in my course during high school. I didn’t choose them. And there were many extras. I just don’t like them having shoved into me. Hate em even. But now, I chose to be there, I chose to be in that course. Everything was my own decision. Nobody forced me to take business, nobody forced me to study there. It was all my decision. The only thing I can do is make the best of it! Now I really have no excuse to fail, got it? Yes? Good!

To all of you who had just got into universities, like myself, the only advice I can give you now is to not give up. Presevere! I say it once I’ll say it again. University life is far different from high school. The lecturers will help you, but only if you ask for it. You only get what you want. And don’t demotivate yourself with such useless thoughts. If you find a problem, seek help. Ask your peers, or your lecturers/teachers. They don’t bite :P. Besides, I’m sure that person beside you is scratching his or her head too by that question. Team up and "attack" your teacher hehehehe. I still use the term teacher. What can I say? I’m still a schoolgirl hehehe.

Well, I guess that’s all my ramblings for today. You guys miss my ramblings right? hehehe. Well, time to do something else. I’ve been lacking exercises lately. I do my exercises in the middle of the day now. Before I go to my afternoon class. Keeps me awake :]. Later!

First homework and Im still excited :D

Wednesday, July 20th, 2005

So today I got my first homework as a student of Swinburne. Hmmmm nice eh? Its economics. Although the tutorial was somewhat boring, it was relatively easy to digest. Thanks to some very cleaver student admins, some of us were changed from oral and reading group A to group C!!! There’s going to be blood on the floor soon. And its not mine ]:D.

I went over the top elaborating on the answers. I dont know if they are right or not and they seem like ramblings to me. But well, can check with the lecturer later. Third day and Im still alive. Tomorrow I wont have any mornign classes, just one math tute in the afternoon. Math! In the afternoon! WhY OH WHY DID I TAKE THAT TUTE! *mutters grumbles* anyway it means I can sleep in tonight wheeee!

Despite my classes, I still have time to play FFT. I mean, its important to take time out after a long day of learning :D. Well, not that long. But still, you need to unwind. To "sharpen the saw". I do it through FFT. I’m at the part where I can go to the Deep Dungeon and already have Cloud in my party, yay! :D. I probably should play more PS2 games instead of reverting back to PS1. It could be said that the only reason I want a PS2 is so I can play Suikoden 3 and the later Suikoden installments like Suikoden 4 and the upcoming Rhapsodia, a suikoden tactics game. Yay! Except for Suikoden 3, which had 3 heroes, all the other suikodens heroes wear red clothes, including the upcoming Rhapsodia. The fourth Suiko hero wore black mostly, but still had that red theme. Like, he wears a red bandanna and his black outfit had some red linings on them. I mean, why not blue, right? Or green. Or pink? :D

I’m still not happy with the tute but we might work something out with the lecturer for our late afternoon class this Friday. Maybe the lecturer wants to go home early too, right? Yeah let’s hope and pray. *hopes* and *prays*

Anyway, time for bed! TA’RA!

Swinburne finally

Tuesday, July 19th, 2005

Now I’m officially a student of Swinburne! Yay! …Whats the big deal about Swinburne you ask? Well, its better than IBMS and INTI for sure hehehe. The orientation was mundane and well, downright mediocre. I was disappointed. Perhaps the student council was trying too hard. Anyway, I expected them to come up with something better. I mean come on, there should be at least more than one heads in there right?

Anyway now going through my first week and so far things are okay. Let’s hope this continues till the end of the semester okay? hehe. I placed some virtual trades just now while Annie was way ahead of me!! UgH…cant lose! Also, to those who thinks this blog is boring, by all means, stop reading :P. I never force anyone to read it and that person who claimed this blog is boring, I bet you cant come up with an even better one. This is MY space to place my ramblings and I can say whatever I want. And my random wisdoms are worth noticing anyway….even though there’s none in this post. Hmmmm. Anyhoo, bed! Bye!

I’m BAAACK!!!

Wednesday, July 13th, 2005

I’m back! My first blog in like, six days? I’m glad to be back. I’ve had of hotels who boast good services but fail to do so. Crappy staff in smart uniforms. It was great attending that course! :D I’m glad I went there. Now I have more clarity on what he was talking about. I should have taken down notes during the first time heh. There wasn’t as many people as before, only 29, last time was 49. But its more comfortable however. I don’t know, prolly because I met someone who’s from Kuching but not "old". She’s prolly around the 20’s so she’s stilly young spirited. Looking forward to seeing you again, Annie! :D Now I know what the 3-5 bar retracement means, the credit spread and debit spread in detail plus some other stuff. I’m so loving trading ^_^. I also took a photo with Mr. Foong! YAY! Finally!

Being in KL, you cant help but do a little shopping here and there. I got most of what I need. Mainly comics. You can always find past volumes in the comic shop at Sg. Wang. And also the final part of Haruka Naru Toki No Nakade (thats a heck of a long title!) That’s the only anime I bought. I’m starting my foundation studies tomorrow so I wont have that much free time to watch anime except on the weekends. Looking forward to tomorrow. Furthermore, I even bought Phantom of the Opera. Is it good? Probably. I’ve been wanting to read the book, but too lazy to and wanted to catch the movie, but too late, so I just bought the vcd. I like classics like those. And besides, not my moneh hehehe.

The hotel I stayed in had a flat screen puter and broadband in the room. Upon checking in, they give you a prepaid card for 24 hours access to the internet. Sweet. But the bitter part is, your 24 hours starts upon activation. It matters not if you’re online or not. After that 24 hours, your account expires. Sweet huh? Very. Needless to say, my 24 hours ended while I was oblivious to it. Damnit. But it was a ball mouse and was very faulty. Needless to say it wasnt that much fun. and the keyboard was too low and the chair was too high you were practically typing on your lap. Nothing wrong with being high from the keyboard, even I do it. But it was too tight together that the keyboard tray graze your lap when you pull it out. Yeah, not fun. Only my bro had fun with it because he was short. But he didnt have much time on it since we have to go out. By the time we got back, the account expired. Damn!

Anyway, I would have a lot to crap about but I have stuff to do and maybe start my Unpacking: The Saga an epic about how troublesome unpacking is after a trip. :/. It could take weeks before the bag leaves my room. So, later then! Ta’ra!

Packing

Thursday, July 7th, 2005

Today uhm…today was…interesting. Last night I finished watching th 50 eps of Tenshi na Konamaiki. Not a bad anime just dont agree with the ending. Not a bad ending though just that…I dont like that Genzo person. :/. Its still available for download at www.animesuki.com if you people want it. Theres a lot of animes there. All unliscensed. Get em quick heh.

OMG its 3 am and Im still packing! O_O I’m leaving for KL tomorrow to attend that options trading course. Will be back on the 13th. Swinburne registration on the 14th. Sweet eh? Crazy stuff like that is fun ^_~. The course ends the night of 11th July. So I’m taking my day off on the 12th. Walk around a little and visit my favorite spots ^_^. Might get some po…I mean animes ^_~ (whew) while I’m there :D. This time I’ll remember taking my camera with me. Well, have to continue packing. Ta’ra!

Whew

Tuesday, July 5th, 2005

So, whew, again. I spent yesterday doing my room justice by giving it a much-needed cleaning. I eliminated all the stuff I dont need like those memorabilias you got from soemwhere but dont really use. I shove them into plastic bags and tossed them ontop of my closet. I still have a lot of space up there it seems. I feel so liberated! :D Since my room was cleaned, I could play FFT without the trouble of dusts. Which I did just now, for 9 hours hehehehe. Of course, I take breaks too, to eat and wee and pray and stuff. I even cleaned the keyboard. I think I did something weird with it or something coz some keys felt stiff. :/

I think I just did a crime against the environment. :|. I poured down the whole content of a neutrogena toner coz I dont use it and cant use it down the drain. But the bottle was recyclable and I had to get rid of the content to recycle it. So to make up for it, I drive all around looking for a recycling center. Finally, I found one. Wasn’t much but at least its one. Dumped the paper and plastic I gathered. I wonder why the government preached so much about recycling but they only put those recycling bins in schools. And you know what happen to THOSE. They just become another trash collector instead of recycling stuff. I’m trying my best to recycle but I think there’s so much other stuff people should consider getting recycled. Like computer parts, CDs, and toothpaste tubes. I dont think those are very recyclable. And cremating them poses a problem to the environment. Well, last word from me, recycle!

Ta’ra!

Its good.

Sunday, July 3rd, 2005

Its been two days now. I wanted to blog last night but I was too tired from cleaning my desk drawers. I even went and asked what people put in their drawers. So I just kep the top one mostly empty so I can put urgent stuff in there that I use often. I sorta went down memory lane with cleaning yesterday heh. I found a lot of stuff that I had in there since primary school! Most of them I dont use anymore and well, your average dust holder, really. So I stuff them in a plastic bag (I seem to have a lot of those too :|) and shove them ontop of my closet hehehehe. They wont be bothering anyone anymore for sure! I even dusted off my PS1 and played FFT! (For the sake of FFT!) Yesterday. I’m so loving the glitches my faulty PS1 is producing from the game hehehe. This is making my life SO much easier.

I wanted to continue cleaning my room today but my sis dragged me to a PC Fair. And spent the rest of the day out of the house. It was almost dusk when we reached home. Also, my 10.23 Gigabutos download is finally finished!!! YAY! Been watching my eps of Tenshi Na Konamaiki. Its good so far. Very funny. But Im not a fan of the art. Since I finished that heck of a long download, Im downloading another one. This one is three separate episodes. The previous one was a pack of 50 episodes. A hefty load :/. A lot of universities registration take place today. I wonder how everyone’s doing. Me? I register on the 14th of July so I still have time to bum around hehehe. So, everyone’s leaving me :/. The sad thing is, I wish I could have said that and be sad. But I’m not. :P This is a new beginning to all of us. Like it or not.

More FFT goodness. Ta’ra!

Mozzies are evil

Friday, July 1st, 2005

Hello! I’m back home and I misseh my bed! My everlasting lover, my boldster! *snuggles^_^* Its only been one night…but what one heck of a night. Throughout the night, I sat on the bed reading comics while my friend bustled about cleaning her room, packing her stuff, cleaning the house and generally beeing busy. So I did the best I could to help her - by watching her work! :D Aren’t I nice? She was insane. She didn’t sleep at all that night and went on cleaning until around ten in the morning. (Tell me that’s insane! O_O) I did sleep though hehehe. Occupied her bed while she was cleaning and stuff hehehehe. But the mozzies at her house kept me company! Grrrr. When we left at around 11 this morning, I was eager to get home and resume sleep but she had other plans for me (which I was somewhat prepared for). The bank, the school, lunch. And moving about under the hot sun (I no likey O_O). Was I GLAD to be back home after lunch!

I’m still in love with FFT so I dusted off my PS1 which has been neglected in the drawer of one of our ’show furnitures’. My trusty ol’ ps1! I love thee! But once I open the lid, it wont close back. Seems like something got stuck in there while I was opening it. But since ps1 is somewhat analog, I just placed my heavy cdr spindle on top of it to keep it shut hehehe. Works fine with my ps2 controller too. :D. Also, it gone crazy a few times just now which, miraculously, lead to the unlocking of various items in the game! O_O. You know when certains equipments and stuff dont become available in the game until later in the story? Well, thanks to my broken ps1, when I loaded the cd, the game started, and when  buying stuff, there was NO PRICE, everything was ‘0000 gil’ and all the equipments are available! Kerazy! Since the glitch also bugged the game, I bought everything, as much as possible, save, and restart. I get to keep all the stuff I bought and the game continues just fine! Amazing. Things like this make me fall in lub with my ps1 all over again. Hahaha.

I might abandon all thoughts of LFSing, IRCing or trading tonight in favor of FFTing. To all my friends leaving for universities tomorrow, good luck in your future endeavours! Remember guys, if you want to achieve your dreams, PRESEVERE! Since a lot of you are taking engineering. That’s one tough course. :/. Also, about the adventure club, sure, you can make your trip to class an ‘adventure’ too by taking the ‘long way around’ and taking a compass with you but I think surviving a two-hour lecture by an extremely boring lecturer is the REAL adventure :P. Anyway, best of luck to you guys! I’ll be staying here thank you. And if I go there I won’t tell you where I’m at. (So you can go and stalk me?? Yea right :P)

That’s all for now. Im being bugged by mosquitoes(mozzies). Like I said, I’m like candy to them. :/. Ta’ra!
